Static while playing games - XMP issue

So I put together my Skylake build with an Asus Z170-AR and a GTX-970. Things were OK the first 2 weeks but now I'm getting static on my speakers while playing games. Looking online, these issues have been linked to EMI from the GPU or PSU. Any ideas on what to try to resolve the issues?

EDIT: Thinking about what I did in the last 2 weeks, I realized I turned on XMP to get the RAM up to DDR4 3000 speeds. This meant a voltage bump. Turning it off, has made the problem go away. Is this an innate issue with the motherboard? Anything I can do?

Can you try to set a manual speed with lower voltage, e.g 2800MHz CL15 @ 1.25V, or whatever the latency and voltage settings are for the 2800MHz variant of your RAM kit.
