static dhcp

Static dhcp is not working my tew-652brp V1.1R with firmware 1.10.29. My mythtv host is a linux box running mythbuntu 10.04 (I think). I have restarted the router and the host many times, but it always gets assigned a dynamic ip and not the static dhcp one I have set (105) in the router. Besides changing the host to static and setting it to something outside the dhcp's range what else could I do? Do static dhcp ip's need to be outside dhcp's range? The dhcp range is 101 - 200 with a renew time set to 1 hour.

What are you using to send dhcp? Are you sure you configured it correctly on that side?

The router sends the dhcp, correct?????

My mythtv host an all my other hosts get a dynamic ip address from my router (tew-652brp). That works fine, but now I want my mythtv host to have a static ip. So, I added it to the static dhcp list on my router, but it still gets a dynamic ip not the one in the static dhcp list on the router. Does a static dhcp ip have to be outside of the dynamic dhcp ip range?

I know a can bypass the router all together and tell the host to not use dhcp and assign it an ip outside my router's range. But it seemed easier to manage on the routers side.

Static IP ha to be within the DHCP range, however some Routers are rather quirky with this feature. So do not lose sleep give the thingie a real static IP.

It ain't exactly simple on mythtv. Took me forever to figure that out. Make sure you are using the right MAC address in the reservation.

Yeah, I think I will just give it a real static ip. I will check the MAC address one more time though. I don't think mythtv should care. The settings are in the Ubuntu part. I have everything in mythtv pointing to 127.0.0.1, or atleast I think I do.

If the management/configuration page for your router is any good, the table that lists the DHCP leases should tell you the MAC address for the interface on your mythtv that's requesting configuration info from DHCP.

It does list the DHCP leases. That was what I posted at the end of my OP. As you can see it has mythtv listed under static dhcp as 105, but under dynamic dhcp as 102. I removed the MAC address from my post for security, but I will triple check it today after work. But even if I got the MAC address wrong I would think it would reserve 105, but as of yesterday it had assigned 105 to another host, my main pc I think. I am really thinking static dhcp is just broken. I may take a screen shot and email Trendnet about it.
