PSA: If you're ever going on a secret sex hookup, don't bribe someone to keep quiet by giving him/her your cell phone!

Cliffs:

1. State lawmaker seeks gay hookup on Craigslist.
2. Guys meet at hotel and lawmaker tells guy he is a lawmaker.
3. Guy freaks and wants to leave but lawmaker restrains him.
4. Guy's sister is called and shows up to pick him up. In a panic, lawmaker gives them his iPad, money, and his CELL PHONE.
5. On way home, sister and guy receive call from lawmaker's wife and other family members:

Megan Gibson said that on the drive back, she began receiving a series of calls on the BlackBerry, including one from a woman who said she was Hinkle's wife.

"I was like, 'Your husband is gay,' " Megan said. "And then she was like, 'You have the wrong person.' "

It's the repression. If the man was a Democrat, he likely wouldn't have freaked out so much over the possibility of being outed. As a Republican, it makes you almost unelectable to be openly gay.

I don't think you parsed that right. It's not likely that he actually is a Republican. It's just that the Republican mindset has something that a homosexual desperately trying to repress his sexuality needs: Unthinking certainty in all things.
A liberal is open-minded, and considers multiple possibilities simultaneously. The truth is always something to be discovered -- it is not something to be declared by fiat by some authority. You can't maintain the repression of homosexuality within such a free-thinking mindset. It would be a valid line of questioning that homosexual urges would bring to the front, and a liberal would have to allow the truth to flow.

Not really. He's just gay. Getting married was so he could look "normal" in his political career and with his family.
