i don't blame them for pulling out. hell i would myself. just not worth it.

but the fraud and other crap they tried to pull they should get nailed for.

I usaually don;t agree with many of Amuseds post but I agree about state farm, and most insurance companies, being scum 100%

They, state farm, did the same type of BS in Oklahoma. They had their "experts" come out and say that houses were already damaged before the tornadoes hit. That way they keep their money and walk away.

State Farm acted "recklessly" and "with malice" in handling insurance claims...

And as Amused already said, and I also agree with. If they want to leave thats fine. But they don't get to take peoples money and then when its time to pay just walk away.

Theres always good money in insurance. Heck the 2nd richest guy made his start with insurance. (Geico is just one of them).

State farm is easily the most unethical company I have ever heard about. There was a corporate office close to the college I went to and a law professor I had worked for them for a while (until he quit for ethics reasons and became a DA for a while). While he wouldn't talk about his personal experiences he had no problem having many of the class exercises about cases they were involved in. Some of them are just terrible. I don't have access to legal books anymore so I can't really site them, but if you do go look some up. I'm sure you will be as disgusted as I was.

Edit: spell checker failed me

No real surprise. Their vehicle/medical division has been under scrutiny for years for unethical if not illegal coverage denials.

Even if they undercut my current insurer by 50%, I wouldn't willingly give State Farm a dime of my money.

I completely agree... they should pay up, but I dont think they should take heat for pulling out of an area. If they have years of data to show that an area simply isnt profitable, then they it makes good business sense to stop writing policies for those people. State Farm != Red Cross

it's only not profitable because of their own malicious behavior leading to them getting hit hard with punitive damages. it'd be one thing if it was just not profitable given ethical business dealings, it's a whole 'nother can of worms if it's not profitable because you are committing fraud and got caught.

I hate this crap. Insurance companies are in the business of managing risk, yet they piss and moan when they are asked to do the one thing they pledge to do; Pay out when crap happens.

They should wake up and realise that this is the business they chose and if tehy don't like it, don't offer it to anyone. Cherry picking is BS.

State Farm sucks, plain & simple. They did me wrong for sure I will never use or recommend them again.

Moving along now.

Thanks

Greg

state farm unlike most insurance companies is a mutual meaning that it is owned by the policy holders. IIRC I'm not sure exactly how that works.
