insurance companys dont operate with logic, they exist to fuck people in the ass and make things as difficult as they possibily can

Agreed, speaking of that anyone in the Portland area know any good insurance lawyers?
My GF is about to need to put a world of hurt in on Geico for not paying for damage done to her car and not paying for her rental car.

lolz...an insurance company doesn't have to cover a rental btw.

What did they not pay for?

Damage to the front bumper of my GF's car.
Gieco is not my GF's insurance company, it is the company of the person that hit her. Therefore they ARE liable for her rental car until her car is fixed.

Actually probably not.

yea sadly its not always true, its easier to just get your insurcnace company to bug them

Go back to State Farm and tell them you want to speak to their supervisor or area supervisor. The estimate is irrelevent in this case if you have a contract and it says full coverage - deductable, once you pay the deductable State Farm has to pay for it. It is a point of Law. Estimates are not exact and they are often wrong. The insurance company still has to pay to fix the car as long as you pay the deductable.

Only downside for us is that now the car has been sitting there for two weeks without a single thing being fixed and we only have about 1 more week of a paid rental car.

lol...

Once you are in the shop the insurance company(ies) have to fix it/make it right.

They don't have to cover lost wages or a rental, etc unless you negotiated that ahead of time or post-accident.

i hope i don't jinx myself, but state farm has mostly been pretty good to me, they paid an ass load of money out when my car was stolen and i was injured.
Of course no insurance company is perfect, they were hardheaded and stupid with some of their policies, but so far i've been treated mostly fairly and don't plan to change companies.

State Farm "kick backs" are dividend checks to their customers.:D
The whole 29 years I was with Allstate, they only asked for $$ never sent me any.

thats not always true.

My wife is an adjuster for an insurance company and you'd be amazed at what people try to get away with. Stupid shit like after a hail storm with non damaging hail, she'll get 3 claims from people with hail damage on their vehicles. Clearly theyve gone around with a ball peen hammer and made the dents while skipping things like trim pieces (yes, in a hailstorm the trim gets hit also), large spider softtball cracks in windshields when pea sized hail was coming down, dents with broken paint (normal hail rarely breaks paint, just makes the dents), etc

I really love it when people dont read their coverage (that they signed their name to), and then open claims for shit that isnt covered. Then they wonder why its denied and go off on her.

People are stupid and try to screw the system all the time. Insurance people exist to try to keep people honest. No wonder premiums are so expensive...

I could care less about people who commit insurance fraud. That's partially the reason premiums are so high.

Quick Update: just got a call from the new repair shop. Talk about a bit more expensive, he's got the damage at $12,000 and he said he's not done. He said its likely state farm will just total the car now.

How do they determine if a car is total? Is it just if the repairs cost more than the car is worth?
