Okay, so I've run into a problem today in class on z scores and t scores. Here are the problems and the way we did them. I don't understand the difference in the problems, to me they should both be using z scores... no? please help.
Problem 1 -The day in class we did the problem we used a z score for the critical value.
Claim is avg. height of adult male is 68 with std dev usually 3. A sample of 23 has mean of 67. At alpha = .10(I call it a fish) does sample prove avg height is less than 68?
Problem 2 - Today in class we used a t score for the critical value
It is claimed the average height of an adult male is 68in with a std dev of 2.5 inches. A sample of 60 men has an average height of 67.4 inches. At 10% sig level, is this sufficient evidence that mean is less than 68 inches?
