Starwars: battlefront!

Anyone have this game? I'm a hardcore starwars fan and I just wanted to see what people that have played this game think before buying it.

Thanks in advance crew.

a buddy of mine bought it and i think he played it 10xs. imho, it is/was overhyped and the galactic 1942 mods kicks ass, except there is no single player with the cool maps it has but all online.

i got it laast week, but started playing Dawn of War so haven't had the time.
The gameplay is fun, it's not gonna blow you away, but it's not bad. You kind of get a good feeling what it would be like to be a peon in the star wars galaxy.
Fighting the walkers on Naboo is kind of fun, and on Yavin.

It's not worth 50 bucks though,.

I think it's better then the star wars mod in battlefield.

Are you serious? It looks lame! Obviously a lot of work put into it but it doenst look that fun.

(reffering to GC) its actually fun, space battles are awesome, but there are some cheesy stuff in it too. its very good for free

Yeah I would probably try it out had I still owned BF1942 but that must suck having that visible grid while playing those space battles.

I've played Battlefront for a couple of hours now... I really like it. What do you guys not like about it?

(NOTE: I have yet to get online with it.)

it felt slow to me, like your guy is always in sand. maybe i am to used to games like bf1942 with dc/dcx / quake / bfv / unreal tournament, online it was kind of a pain in the ass because you couldn't find your peeps like you can in bf with the add buddy option. maybe after they put out a couple of patches i will try it again.

it actually helps me, without them, i would easily go off course and not know how to find the enemy or my base (the minimap is in 2d) so, without the grids, you could drift down and not be able to find your way back.

okay, change in opinion.

I really like it on my intel machine with the x800 pro, but i went to install it on my other machine, an amd64 with a 6800gt, and when you go to play the framerate drops to about a frame every three seconds and you can't play it.

i looked out on lucasarts, and it seems a lot of 6800 owners are griping.
So i love it i hate it.

that is funny because when it starts up you get the nvidia logo saying "the way its meant to be played" or something like that. i have seen it played on a 2.8c w/ 9800pro and it played excellent (high resolutions and high quality on all with 2x aa) as it did with a 9600aiw and 9800aiwpro. you don't need a ton of hardware for this game as i beleive it is hardcoded to either 20 or 30fps. i believe the game to be effiecient in that area, definately.

Wait so you can actually go on forever? I thought where the grids were were where the boundaries were.

I luckily got to play before I payed... I think it's jut NOT a good game. I love Star Wars and even went back for a few days and tried like h*ll to like it, but to no avail.

Played it over a LAN with a couple friends the other night... Played it some more last night... I think it's a pretty good game.

Sure, it's nothing revolutionary. And sure, I wouldn't even begin to consider it for Game of the Year, or anything. I could definitely see if someone were to say that it's "ok" or "average".

But I think it's fun and definitely not a "total waste of money".

Alright, maybe it was abit harsh..it is probably a mediocre game by all standards, graphics are nothing spetacular while gameplay is ok ok...
