Startup programs in BeOS.

Hey, I'm new to BeOS and was wondering if anybody could explain to me how to get programs to run on startup, I've seen a program that will do it for me but I'd rather do it myself. I've already created a UserBootscript file in the system/boot directory, but I can't seem to get programs running from it, I've been trying to use the launch and runprog functions to no avail, what am I doing wrong? TIA.
