Was wondering what I have to go into in WIN2k pro. to get rid of some programs that I don't want to startup when I turn on my computer.... aka like ICQ, etc. Without deleting the program. Thanks~

there is an all users start up folder as well as your profile startup folder on the start menu. Take out shortcuts from there, and if you still can't find it you can normally tell programs not to startup at boot. I know ICQ has a setting.

There are four places that programs can put themselves to start when someone logs on:

In the Start menu, Startup programs. There are two places: "All Users" and the currently logged on user. Right click on startup programs and choose Open or Open All Users.

In the registry, two possible places:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Note that each user has individual settings in the HKCU hive of the registry and the user's startup programs folder.
