hey
i am havin problems starting up my computer, first of all these are my specs:
AMD Athlon 1900+
256Mb DDR
Gigabyte 7VRXP Rev 2.0 (Bios is 1.0 however)
Generic (AMD approved) PSU
40Gb HD
8.2Gb HD
50X Cdrom
32Mb TNT2
the problem is that when i press the power button at the front of my case,
the computer doesnt start up. but when i switch it off and back on at the
PSU switch and then press the power button, it starts up alrite.
i had Win 98 installed just a few days ago and was experiencing the same
problem. for ease, ive got the bios configured so when i switch on the comp
from the back it starts up instantly e.g. AC Back function - Full On.
also, after i shutdown Windows, the Power LED remains on until i switch the comp
off at the back and also sometimes, the led on the CDROM remains on.
i know i have the power switch and the power LED connectors the right way
around so that cant be it.
i mentioned this problem very briefly to the guy who made the comp for me
and he said it might be something to do with DMA (???)
so can someone help me?
im maybe thinkin its something in the BIOS, or maybe this DMA thing or
maybe because the Mobo is Rev 2 but im running Rev 1 Bios (i dont know how
to update bios using XP, never done before, help?)
