Startup Annoyance

When i boot up my computer and login to windows with win98se an explorer page pops up everytime with the top bar saying
"Res://ie4tour.dll/welcome.htm"
I have tried hijacthis, regedit and msconfig and still cant fix it.
Does anyone have any idea about how to fix it.

How about try Spybot Search & Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org and LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE Personal from http://www.lavasoft.de, plus a free online antivirus check at Panda and/or TrendMicro, if you think it could be some form of malware.

Big picture: you got a firewall and current-generation antivirus software at the moment?

To the OP, if you're running IE4 you _need_ to update to IE5.5.

IE4 is riddled with security flaws and annoying spyware-type ads targetted at MSN's older internet services from the ghetto days of Windows.

mech's suggestions of making sure you have Spybot and Adaware still apply too, though, make sure you snag them off the internet 🙂
