PayPal no longer charges you a $.20 label processing fee when printing out shipping labels for Media Mail and First Class packages :thumbsup:

Huh?

I don't know about you, but having PayPal integrated so tightly with eBay is EXCELLENT. UPS shipping and USPS shipping is automatically tracked through My eBay and you and the buyers get automatic emails with tracking numbers.

Besides, you pay the same rates you would pay at the Post Office except that Delivery Confirmation for Priority Mail is free on PayPal. That and you don't have to wait in line at the post office. Just print out your label and drop it in the automated checkout box.

It's really crazy NOT to use it.
 
So just say something like, "Payment by balance fund transfers" instead of mentioning Paypal. If a buyer doesn't know what that means they can email you.

The integration sounds like a plus.

I believe the free DC on Priority comes from USPS, not from PayPal, e.g. you could sell something on FS/FT, accept a MO, print out your postage with the proper kit, and get free DC.

Or the buyer just skips your auction and goes to a competitor that has the paypal logo. Also, many times I will filter my searches by only including payments through paypal. End result, you lose money by alienating your buyers.

Exactly. If I buy something on eBay, it's ONLY with PayPal. I don't want the added wait time of having to go to the post office and getting a money order, then mailing the payment. It's just additional time that isn't needed
 
If you do any sort of volume on eBay, you should already have a merchant account by now.

Offer the buyer a 3% discount for sending a money order or cashiers check. Offer the same 3% discount for sending personal/business checks with a mandatory 7 business day waiting period (for the check to clear). Offer to accept BidPay and help pay some or all of the BidPay fees for the buyer. Or as I said before, get a merchant account and pay the same or lower fees than with PayPal while cutting out the middle man.

All of these options will net you the same amount of money as accepting a PayPal payment, but without the concern for fraud from a buyer dispute or chargeback, and without the concern of PayPal seizing your money because you look like you are "high risk". By accepting mailed payments and BidPay, once the money is in your bank, it is yours to keep.

Of course PayPal is the de facto standard for online payments on eBay. That is because eBay owns PayPal. It is in eBay's best interest to get as many people (buyers and sellers) to use PayPal so they can line their pockets. My beef is that with the market cornered, PayPal will not be seriously concerned about the serious issues with their services. We'll have to wait until Google Wallet launches for any real competition to PayPal on a grander scale, and competition is always good for the end user.
