Starter gaming monitor

I Havnt fully understood all these different types of monitors and what would be best for what I've got and using. I'm almost done building a 4690k with a xfx r9 280 double dissipation 1080mhz. I'm not trying to spend 800$ on a monitor but I'm also not trying to get away with 100$. I don't know where the best bang for my buck. I'm not entirely sure what I want because all my gaming as been on a laptop and I've just played with what I got. My main games for now are wow and Diablo 3 but that will probably expand my horizons with my new pc. Thanks in advance for the help.
 
there are some cheap asus monitors that are awesome i cant remember the one that i have but i know its like 23.6" and has a 2 ms response time i love it was like $180
