Started to build a new greenhouse today. Thought I would share some pics as we progress. Updated 3/4/2022

More govt bs to enrich the already rich. Didn't MI try that crap, legalize but only 5 approved growers allowed?

usually, growth for personal use (so, volume per year) would be legal for everyone, got growing with intent to distribute is highly regulated and thus limited to certain growers with the established capacity to do so.

Just a quick update for everyone. Today was a brutal day. Between the high temps and the unbearable humidity the three of us were fried by the end of it. Just for reference temps were in the high 80's and the humidity level has right around 85%. That made for a heat index of close to 97* which is not ideal.

Concrete truck arrived with 5 yards on board. It should have been enough to fill 50 12" diameter holes with a 36" depth. It was not so we had to have a second truck deliver more. When it was all said and done it took 7 yards.

Here's a cool shot I took of the truck backing down the hill to get to where we needed him. The look on the drivers face was priceless but he was a pro.

The right side is done and my dad is checking the posts to make sure they line up with the string line. They made the concrete a little on the wet side even though we asked for dry so the steal posts kept slipping off the string.
FWIW dad is 67 years old and he retired back in '15. Once he heard we were building a new greenhouse he flew back from Sarasota to be part of it. The man has a passion for the business that he created and it was cool to see.

Here's a pic of my bother filling the holes. While he filled the holes with create we worked behind him setting the steal posts.

The last few pics are after the steal posts had a few hours to set. It doesn't look like much now but you can start to visualize just how large this greenhouse is. Once the bows get in place it will really start to take shape.

Ouch, short load charge?
Here short load is 5yd residential, 3yd commercial/contractor.
10yd max per truck (and they don't need the 4th axle)

Very nice alignment of the posts. 😉
How much tolerance do you have with that?
And what's the extra batter board for just beyond the corner batters on the "tall" end.
(just nosey, having been in the construction business for 40 years, I always curious as to how other folks do "it")

I'm not sure what the exact charges for the create were. I think it was a little under $700 total and I know they charged us extra because we kept driver at the site longer than normal because we had so many holes to fill and posts to set.

Thanks for noticing the alignment of the posts. It took a lot of work to get them just right. Tolerances are pretty loose because the bows are 30' wide and connected at the top with 2.25" sleeve. As far as the extra batter boards go that was my brother being a little dramatic. The post hole digger had a 12" auger and he thought that we put the batter boards to close to where the holes needed dug. He put the extra batter boards there just in case. It turned out we had plenty of room.

So I received a random email a few days ago regarding this thread. I guess there is a guy in Colorado who also purchased one of these greenhouses and through a Google search found this thread. He had some questions for me because the manufacturer was no help because he bought it second hand like we did.

Anyway, I went back and looked at this thread and realized I didn't update it as construction proceeded so I thought I would give it some closure. The greenhouse was finished later that summer and has been in commercial production since completion. It now grows over 500 hanging baskets, 2,000 pre-made 12" to 17" combination containers, and 1,200 4.5" individual square pots.

I realize I don't have any build pics but here is one I took today in it's completed state. It's the one on the right.

Wow looking good!

That's a lot of commercial weed growth potential. 😛
Haha, yeah no weed growing in this one or any of the others. We just grow flowers and veggies like petunias, geraniums, tomatoes, peppers, and many other varieties of plants but no weed. To many hurdles to jump through not to mention damage to our local reputation to mess around with growing the weed.

Yeah I can imagine the hurdles. Even food related plants would probably be lot of red tape. The stuff you're growing is probably the easiest.
