I started Seti up last night and thought I would easily be done with 2 WU by now but I am only at 36% of the first one I am not running the GUI version. Its running fulltime on my PIII 600 852RAM nothing else is running in the back ground. Any ideas?

PS Im on the Team! but at this rate it wont be much.:(

Check task manager and make sure you only have 1 instance of the Cli running. I have on occasion somehow managed to have 2 going at once and it slows everything down.

Also what OS are you using ?

are you running win9x or win2k? maybe some other program is hogging the cpu, try restarting the computer. also, if it is win9x a VLAR (very low angle range) wu can take ~15 hours.

not GUI and only... wow... tried a restart? sometimes seti has gotten stuck, usually at the end though...
if assimilator1 is around he has a link to another task manager, it will tell you exactly what is running on your system

Check your power management as well. Don't let the drive turn off or the system sleep.

Can you list what applications are running? Like Anti-Virus, MSN Messenger or whatever. Maybe you're running something that takes more cpu time and doesn't really give SETI a chance to run. Old DOS programs are notorious in hogging system resources including cpu time.

IsOs has a very good point about the power management. Could well be Win98 is living up to its name -- windoze -- and is putting the 'puter in sleep mode after 15 or 20 minutes.

 ok I feel like an idiot! I had the GUI version running... Duhhh When I downloaded the program I saw GUI version on bottom and didn't notice for MAC. I have the client up and it says I have 5 hours left. Is that realistic? You know I was thinking watching the graph, "Boy I wonder what that GUI version is like!" Ha Ha.

Thanks everyone for the help...

Now I'm sure there is a way for me to move what my machine has started in the GUI version to the Client. And it is in this forum somewhere?

Thanks again.

Actually, if you change versions of the client, processing on the current WU will start over at the beggining. Depending on how far you've gotten through the current WU, it may be worthwhile to just wait until this one finishes before switching to the Command Line Client...
