Hey folks, been a while since I have been on here since my retirement as a Senior moderator. I started playing World of Warcraft at the urging of a friend just to try it out. Well, needless to say I got hooked on playing it and I have given up all of my other games.

Now to the issue at hand.

I am on a RP Server, Steamwheedle Cartel, and have rolled a Night Elf Rogue, and have made it to level 70, obtained some PVP and PVE gear. I also have been appointed as Guild Leader of a small guild known as Legacy of Excalibur and charged with rebuilding the guild to its former state. So as you can see I am into the game, but I have several limiting factors related to game play and mechanics.

1, I am slightly disabled in my left hand, thus making it hard to truly play up to my characters true potential. I am not a programmer, and have a hard time understanding the how to's of writing macros.

2, Once I get the macro part down, what is the best combo of moves from opener to finishing to minimize energy spent, maximize damage, and maintain stun lock.

3, WHY DOES ALLIANCE ALWAY LOSE A FRIKIN BATTLE GROUND!!!! It seems like everyon e is a frikin 4 star general, or they just want to get the marks and roll over and play dead.

Ok last one was a rant, but if I can get help with the first 2 I would greatly appreciate it.

Also if any of you play on the Alliance side and are on Steamwheedle Cartel, drop me an in game mail and say HI. Also My guild is currently recruiting, You can contact me under ULFWALD of course, Bebheis, my wife IRL, a 70 Hunter, Enterprise, Deltaflyer, Wrager, or DeadlyLock.

Have a great day folks. and again, thanks for the help in advanced.

Rogue macros
I don't know squat about making them either (aside from the basic /cast spell and whatnot). I don't think it's all that useful to know when 99% of what you need is already out there.

Is your 2nd question pertaining to pvp or pve? I'm assuming pvp since you mentioned stunlock. It depends on your spec. I'd say the best thing to do is watch some pvp videos. There are literally hundreds of rogue pvp vids out there. I was watching some made by Neilyo (search on warcraftmovies.com) and they're pretty amazing. They're all basically arena though (what wow pvp has turned into). And last, practice makes perfect. So start arena teams and keep playing.

No one tries in BG's because they just don't care. They're in it for honor/marks, not to actually play. Faction success varies by battlegroup, on Rampage it was pretty even, alliance won slightly more i would say.

Hey Ulfwald.

Grats on having fun in WoW. Don't let it dominate your life ;)

1: Have you ever tried a keypad device like a nostromo That in particular may not be the best example for you but there are lots of options. Thankfully wow is very customizable so look into UI mods and keymapping to best use the controls to your ability.

2: There are no "best moves". There are pretty common combos that are used for certain builds against certain targets. You need to learn and experience more scenarios to know what works best. It starts to become a big numbers fest which we call theorycraft. You need to start learning your openers and attack cycles that maximize a certain function. Such as this chain of attacks is the best for high defense boss target while grouped with xx types. This is the best way to stunlock in PVP against a soft target and maximize DPS. This is glossing over a really complex subject on a simple question of what makes a great player of a class.

3: Why does the alliance always lose? Usually demographics. This depends heavily on the server and battlegroups though. Where I play, alliance usually wins but then again my guild/team affected the balance greatly. Even pure pugs though, usually it was 60/40 wins alliance/horde.

Sounds like you have a lot of fun and learning ahead of you. I'd start with heroic runs, Kara, BG's and have some fun, read up on some forums and sites. Wowwiki is a great place to start. Also try watching movies of others, especially with Vent chat. You can learn a lot.

Have fun!

Alliance is terribad, you should know that by now.

As for the maximal sequence of moves, it really depends on your spec. Look up "rogue pvp rotation" on google/wow forums/clan forums (like elitistjerks). I've been out of the game for a while, but hope that helps

If you have a mouse with a good handful of buttons you can basically play by just using WASD, cntrl, and alt in most all situations. Setup the extra mouse buttons for your most needed attacks then set it up so that holding alt/cntrl/whatever and those same buttons is a a whole bunch of others.

That is how my friend has his setup since he games at work on his laptop and can't make it obvious he is gaming sometimes so he barely ever uses his left hand for much lol.

As for openers and all that, depends on your spec and such. But basically if your a SS rogue and have fair gear it doesn't even matter if you are stealthed and get attacked anymore, besides a warrior.

Oh, obligatory, Alliance are fags comment

Check out the forums at elitistjerks.com. They should get you up to speed on both rogue-specific stuff and general game info that you'll need as a guild leader. Very high signal to noise ratio there. Avoid the official forums like the black plague.

Alliance generally lose battlegrounds because it has a higher percentage of adolescents and children. Yes, they're generally good at video games, but we adults just have a lot more practice and care more about the victory. And we adults prefer horde :p

Actually, I think the real reason is because the Alliance holds a larger population on most (if not all) servers. More people = more idiots looking for leet gear (it has been shown that idiocy percentage actually increases with population) = worse battlegrounds performance.

That seems to be everyone's theory and personally I think it's BS.

This is probably closer to the truth.

Because of people like you, who spend countless hours getting to 70 and yet still don't know how to play their character.

"Idiocy percentage actually increases with population" - citation? :p

In the beginning, the alliance had a higher population on almost every server. On PvP servers and for many on PvE ones as well, this meant horde had to adapt to being outnumbered by playing better. It's also possible the more human-like and prettier alliance, also perceived by many to be the "good guys", attracted a slightly younger, more superficial or more casual crowd.

From that slight edge I think the effect just snowballed. Leveling in WoW is relatively easy so it wasn't a stretch for PvP-oriented alliance to reroll horde, or to at least roll a horde alt for PvPing. When battlegrounds were released, PvPing as horde had the additional benefit of not having to wait in long queues to get in.

The numbers are closer to even now thanks mostly to blood elves, all but alleviating long queue times, but it's like closing the barn door after the cows escaped (or however the saying goes). Many new and/or rerolling players interested in PvP will know from chatting with others that horde rules for PvP, and won't even bother trying it as alliance.
