Current stats: 32 years old, 5'10", 168 lbs, 25% BF (Bod Pod). I lifted religiously from 17-19 and went from 135 to 160 lbs, ripped. Since college, getting married, having kids etc. I've went to hell. My stamina is pathetic. After running up three flights of stairs at work I want to die.

I just got a copy of Insanity and went through the initial fit test. Holy shit. Reality check x100. A few times during the test I was lying on the floor, flicking the television off and screaming profanities. I'm normally a very nice guy but Shaun T pissed me off! Here are my results:

Switch Kicks: 90
Power Jacks: 38
Power Knees: 70
Power Jumps: 25
Globe Jumps: 5
Suicide Jumps: 12
Push-Up Jacks: 20
Low Plank Oblique: 25

I tried to maintain good form and if my form was suffering I took a quick breather and went back to it. Twice I paused during a break for 15 seconds to allow myself a little more rest and to get a quick drink.

My normal resting heart rate is around 70 (BP monitor at work I check on occasion). 30 minutes after the fit test my heart rate was at 100 BPM! I measured it at 40 minutes and it dropped to 92. An hour later it's still at 84!

Just posting here to show how I did and see how others have fared with this program. I'm sure I'm going to be in major pain tomorrow and pray I can get through the next workout, which is Plyometric Cardio Circuit.

Any recommendations like a pre or post workout drink? I read taking L-Glutamine will help reduce soreness the next day so I may get some of that. I also read you need mucho fuel to really get a good workout so any suggestions on excellent foods to do that?

Thanks!

Honestly for me the worst part of it is the fit test starting out. It is worse then any other day for me, pure cardio followed by the abs in one day is rough to.

I did it for a month straight, and started in on crossfit at a local gym 3 days a week. I had planned on doing both, but my body was not recovering fast enough. So i stopped insanity for now after another month of crossfit i am going to work it back in though.

I used there recovery formula, i switched to a whey protein though instead. I use the shakeolgys also, expensive but i like them.

Also everytime i do the fit test i end up laying in the bottom of my shower for 10 mins, something about it just tears me up.

The fit test is purposely designed to make you feel bad. The more you feel out of shape, the more you feel like you've justified buying their expensive exercise program. It's a pretty good play on their part, but it makes sense as to why it sucks every time you it, even though you're more active.

Stay with it but remember that diet will make or break your results. You can work out as hard as you want but without a solid diet to back it up, you'll just be running around in circles.
