Started having dreams since I started taking Kava Kava and Ginko

I started taking Kava Kava and Ginko about a week ago, and since then I dream whenever I sleep. Before, I *rarely* used to dream. I'd go to sleep, and wake up. But now whenever I sleep, whether it's overnight or I'm just taking a nap, I have a dream every time.

Is this normal?

Well it's probably not normal that you all of sudden remember your dreams, but it's normal to dream...in fact everyone dreams every night. On average, a person has like 5 dreams a night...or at least that's what I've heard. So now you're just remembering your dreams. Perhaps that Kava Kava and Ginko is making your brain a little sharper

dreaming is a really interesting subject for me. I wish there had been a college course I could have taken about dreams. I find some of them intensly fascinating to think about, particularly after having a vivid one. My dreams are never "good", they are always "bad", so when I wake up sweating, heart pounding, and wondering what happened next it takes me a few minutes to realize it was just a dream. :)

Dreams are cool. :)

take Valerian root, it will enhance your dreams about 100times, you will remember things you were never meant to, it is an interesteing herb that i have taken in moderation for quite awhile, it honestly scares me sometimes because of some of the th ings you dream of when you take it.

man, that sucks...but it sure is a nice feeling when you realize that it is just a dream. I actually had a dream last night that I decided not to take a final for my math class because I didn't think I needed to, but then at the last second I realized that I had to take it but I had no time to study, so I was screwed. But then I thought to myself "hey, I already finished that class and I'm just dreaming" and boy did I feel relieved

My dreams are wacky enough as it is, so I've got to try this... :)

it should be interesting things for you, but do NOT take more than the recommended dose, weird things happen when you do, and i'm being serious

I'm actually not too good at altering my own thoughts in my dreams, but a couple of friends of mine have told me that they can do it fairly regularly. Like they actually have control over what they do and say and things like that. pretty crazy stuff

yeah, valerian root smells like stinky feet, (no lie), but it's effects are worth it. they allow a much deeper dive into the subconcsious than without them

I'm not sure what you guys are saying. The dreams I have are rare but so intense that for several minutes after waking I am still confused what is reality and what is not. I've woken up to phone calls before and spoken to the person on the phone as if still in the dream. LOL. :)

So, what do you mean by "control" over what you say and do?

i have little to no control over my dreams, and when i do, they're too f'd up to even think about. seriously, take the recommended dose of Valerian Root and tell me how it feels, i would like to hear if i'm the only one out there that has weird episodes after this "drug"

For most people (or at least me), when you dream you are looking at it from a 3rd person point of view. Like it may be you in the dream but you are just looking at what happens. But my friends can actually make seemingly conscious decisions as to what they are going to do in the dream. Like in my dream about not wanting to take that math final, perhaps my friends could have realized that is dumb and decided to take it. Something along those lines

I plan on it. I have insane dreams. I had a dream that lasted 3 months one time. I often awake thinking that they had happened. I have lucid dreams (dreams that I can control) fairly regularly. The freaky thing is, if I'm flying in my dreams, I can feel it in my equilibrium (sp).

And people wonder why I like sleeping so much! I'll try that valerian root though. Where can I get it?

Interesting, I did not know this. I guess I'm one of the folks that have "concious" decisions, as my dreams all seem like reality (although in a very FUBAR'd way).

Anywhere that sells vitamins and suppliments will have it.

It's good stuff. 2 500mg valerian root and a 2.5mg melatonin(the under the tongue kind), and I'd like to watch you try and stay awake. ;)

I know what you are talking about with the reality thing...but I think that is a little different than what I was trying to explain about making decisions and what not. It's just hard to explain. But yeah, sometimes dreams seem soooo real and I'll wake up and be so confused as to what is happening and what not. It can get scary sometimes

No, I understand what you are saying...and still think I fit into that "latter" group, I think my response was a little poor. :) I agree its hard to explain this sort of stuff (they are dreams for chrissake! :p )

It's called lucid dreaming. It's something that I've been able to do since I was a kid. Usually I go along with the dream, but when things get a little scary I can either start to influence the dream, or change to a different scenario. But I haven't really been able to dream for the past two years. :(

Anyway, thanks for the responses. Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up some valerian too. :)
