Start-up Programs

Simple question:

Where do I go to change what programs are loaded on start-up in Win95 to the right
side of the toolbar (next to the clock).
I'm trying to get rid of programs like RealPlayer, joystick, FTP, etc... from loading
automatically, as I always just close them out immediately anyways.

I went through Windows-StartMenu-Programs-StartUp, but none of them were listed there.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

PS - I did a search but couldn't find any related threads; if I missed some, please just
link me there...

some of them should have properties, that you can access by right clicking on them from the system tray, to disable them. hope this helps a little.

Start --> Run --> msconfig --> Startup

Delete the checkmark next to anything you don't want to launch when you bootup.

I don't think you can msconfig win95 or was that sfc?? hmmm. I think you can edit your registry by running regedit , and hkeylocal machine/software/micros/windows/current vers... look in the run key and see if you can remove the start up strings for those items... lemme know how it turns out gl🙂

Follow Dans' advice. After you turn off the applications you want, reboot, you'll see a new program folder (start> programs) called "Disabled Startup Items". It works.

Hey all -

I took a little bit of all of your advice...
I manually got rid of RealPlayer from starting up by going under properties.
Then, I ran msconfig (yes, in Win95) and got rid of the rest from StartUp.
I also took a look at regedit but that was a little more complicated, so I left it alone... 😉

Thanks alot for your help everyone.
