That's pretty amazing they're selling songs that quickly. I wonder what percentage of people legally own their music? That's actually encouraging.

I'll stick with my Yahoo Music subscription.

If Apple (or any other legit site) offered FLAC at significant discounts vs buying the CD I might consider actually buying online music instead of renting it.

It's not a meter at all. Probably something scripted to give people an *approximation* of when they plan to hit 500 million songs, but nothing exact.

People don't buy songs at exactly the same rate 24 hours a day. That should give away the fact that it isn't an actualy meter.

Replace Viper GTS with tfinch2 and that's exactly how I feel. Go Yahoo Music! :)

wow, with so many people doing the "right thing", i feel less guilty.

That makes no sense at all.

if you don't get it, then i applaud you as an upstanding individual who has never delved into the kazaa/p2p/i2hub underworld.

They're not... that download meter is a simple flash proggy that generates random numbers and displays them...

I'm sure it reflects the average speed they're selling them, though. Apple doesn't lie, do they?
