Are these brand new "never before seen" episodes? I still haven't seen Season 3 yet -- waiting for the DVD set to come out. :)

These are new episodes. This is to be the final season and Micheal Shanks is coming back to SG-1. They are to start making the second movie after filming the last season which should be around December '03. I don't know when it is to hit theaters.

<-- Kicked wife out of house tonite so I can watch this in peace :)

Man I like this show. I will be TIVOing it, so maybe sooner or later I can cap it.

It saddens me that this will be the last season, the show truly has infinite possibilities. Ahhh well, enjoy everyone.

I came across it today but I can't find exactly where I saw it. It just basically said that production on the final season will be complete at the end of '03. It also said that production of the movie was to follow shortly. There was also talk about the new stargate series but I forgot what it was called. It will be an spin off of the current series.

I don't know why they would make this the last series. The show has steadily gained a very loyal growing following, and there are still plenty of ideas and directions the stories could take.

The tv network's always cancel the good shows before they need to. :(

They are not cancelling it, the actors are moving on to different shows. Also, all the filming is done in Canada and some of them don't want to travel all the time. It was the same situation with X-files and Duchovany.

Also, Daniel (Micheal Shanks) might be going to a show on one of the major networks. I think it was Law and Order or something like that. There is suppose to be a spin off show but I don't know if it will happen. The movie will happen before the new show does.

From an earlier thread here on ATOT:

STARGATE ATLANTIS

Is Stargate SG-1 and the upcoming feature film the end of the Stargate story? No way! Executive producer Brad Wright announced in September, 2001, that the story goes on: Stargate Atlantis, a brand new television show, is in the works!
WHAT IS IT?
In TV Land, they call it a "spin-off." Atlantis is a new series set in the Stargate universe, probably after the events of SG-1 and the next feature film.

WHAT'S THE PREMISE?
Information is scarce right now, but we do know that the upcoming feature film will establish the premise for Atlantis. Executive producer Robert C. Cooper has said that the film "evolves the Stargate."

Fans have also begun to theorize on how the myth of the lost continent of Atlantis may be incorporated into the Stargate universe. One prevailing theory is that the film will introduce the Ancients, the builders of the Stargates, and identify them as the original inhabitants of Atlantis. (Read our Gatewatch editorial for more on that theory).

So that it differs substantially enough from its predecessor, Atlantis will probably not be set in the SGC -- and may very well not be set on Earth. Creator Brad Wright told fans that it will not be based on a military team.

WHO WILL BE IN IT?
Casting has not yet begun for the show, and it's unknown which characters might appear in the new series. Most likely, it will be a new cast and a new set of characters. While SG-1 cast members could make guest appearances, don't count on any of the show's regulars to sign on to be regulars on Atlantis.

WHEN WILL IT AIR?
Stargate SG-1's seventh season concludes filming in the early Fall of 2003. If it turns out to be the show's final season and the crew heads straight into production on the film, don't expect Atlantis to bow before the fall of 2004.

WHERE WILL IT AIR?
There's no word yet on which network might air the show, though the fact that it is coming has already been advertised to the syndication market in the U.S. (where SG-1 currently has its second run, following Showtime / The Sci-Fi Channel). SG-1's record-breaking success on Sci-Fi bodes well for Atlantis possibly airing there when SG-1 ends.
