Still speechless...well almost.

Got Colin McRae Rally 2005 with a MSI bundle and wrote their marketing department a nicely worded email explaining the implications of infecting their users with this malware. I also urged them to consider other game bundles in the future and to not associate with such a company.

I'm ticked because I would actually like to play King Kong or Colin MacRae 2005. I refuse to even play them on console because of the PC version. Also, I'm sure the graphics from my X1800XT would look much better than on my PS2, but I refuse to risk system stability and security for any game.

I also wanted to check out the new King Kong demo. The only game I own with Starforce is GTR:FIA. I had it installed for months on my old rig and never had any problems with it interfering with making back-ups, etc. Must be something in the newer software that causes the problems.

Yeah, it is the new one. Ubisoft took over production of the Heroes of Might and Magic line after 3do's collapse. Unfortuantely, they were very stupid and decided to bundle starcrap with the newest game (which will hopefully (and unfortunately since it was a good series) kill sales and teach them not to use such restrictive and system damaging copy protection schemes).

I can't wait for them to get sued for destruction of property or whatever you call it when someone tries making a backup of a protected CD while working on a project for work or something and the project is lost. :beer:

I'm sick of this DRM bull.

Yeah, and sadly, the little kiddies or people that don't really know or care about this will still rush to the store and buy these games, affecting their and their parents computers with this junk... and the publishers will just never learn the lesson. I'm hoping some lawsuits will be filed, but something tells me we're losing the battle against this crap - especially looking at the heavyweights like RIAA and MPAA and the crap they get away with.

Thanks for the link Golgatha. Fortunately I don't own any affected games nor did I plan on buying any of them. But you can bet your arse that I'll be checking that list prior to buying any game.

I hope the publishers get the hint when the most rabid game fans stop buying their products due to their poorly thought out choice in copy protection.
