This came up in another thread (I was previously unaware of Starforce) but I'm curious what any of you here can add to the discussion.

A thread can be found at BroadbandReports.com which details much of what people are saying about it.

- Were you previously aware of Starforce?
- Have you ever had a problem with a Starforce protected game?
- If so, do you feel that it's interaction with your registry is safe? (some have argued that it creates a security risk).

Any opinions here?

Plenty of removal tools for it:

Interaction with the registry isn't safe/unsafe in itself. It's whether you hit the bad-luck jackpot and it reacts bad to something on your system you should worry about. I'd imagine there are some disclaimers in the EULA for the software it comes with, commercial software probably wouldn't dare do this without some paragraph somewhere.

Not something I'd want on my box, but some of the reactions on that site are quite comical - break out the tin foil hats etc..

That's why I wanted to ask here......this site seems to be a bit more level headed about stuff like this than many others.
