If they are giving the mothership to the Protoss, I wonder what they'll give the Terran and Zerg to balance it out.

I'm wondering if they took away the carrier from the Protoss to balance.

Carriers are useless against Zerg anyways.

I once had 4 carriers defeated by 30 scourges. I was not happy.

yamato cannon > carriers 😀

I have to be honest.... I'm not really that jazzed about SC2.

Don't get me wrong... I loved SC and SC2 will probably be a really good game. But I got bored with SC about 5 years ago for the last time.

I never got in to WOW, though, either.... so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Back in 98-99... my friends and I use to play online against other parties and completely ****** clean house, every time. Of course, we were sitting all together in our ChemE computer lab so we could just talk to one another to work out our plan of attack whilst laughing at their attempts to organize their defenses.

If you were playing me as terran, you wouldn't survive long enough to get Battle Cruisers 😀

A few Zealots early in the game, I destroy your Command Center (or cause it to lift off), and continue to harass you while building up resources. Then whatever paltry force of ground units you've been able to develop will soon be met by 12 zealots accompanied by dragoons. Unless the map is freakishly huge, I own 😀

I miss the protoss voice actors from the original game. I know at least one was a developer.

CARRIER HAS ARRIVED

Also, someone on the other thread remarked that the best part of the game was the limitations of each race and getting around them to beat your R-S-P foil. I was thinking about that as I watched the new game footage. I hope they have not ruined this. They seem to have gotten away from that and the units look more like they're from C&C's idea of balancing. I'm not a fan of that. Improv is the best part of the old game.

And it won't kill me if they're gone, but if most of the old units go, the game will lose some of its nostalgia. I kept watching that video thinking about how I'd use a dual shuttle defense/attack w/ upgraded templar & reavers. Or twin Arbiters. Would've owned.

WARP FIELD STABILIZED.

Meh, I enjoy the new unit ablities they added so far, they are capitolizing on the way people have been playing, like the dark templer+goon hybrid micro teleport ability.

They gave terran a ground-based base raider terrain defeating unit, like a mutalisk that is ground-based, but wraiths were never really cost effect as a harrass unit because of tech cost, and the cost of the unit itself.

I hope they took carriers out, noobs enjoyed them, they really weren't that bad balence wise. They are just annoying, because you have to manually target them sometimes, and they stack on top and under each other.

My favorite counter to carriers is actually 3attack ups marines. Carriers have a tendancy to target 1-3 units at a time no matter how many you have. So you have to leave about 3-4"squares" of terrain to let the carriers get close, then send in about 50marines, and just keep sending them. Terrans always accumulate excess minerals unless you are pumping M&M the entire game. No need to target the carriers, you kill the interceptors much faster than they can be made.

I really think they are just making the micro-side of the game alot more fast paced. They put alot of thought into splash damage vs small units, and sustained damage vs large units. Then throw in the specialabilities, like those hybrid DT-Goons and they're teleporting, I think its going to be a fast paced exciting RTS.
