Starcraft Sucks

starcraft offers a level of customization few games can match. WCIII doesn't have the unit character that SC does IMO, even though its more customizable. This game is easily one of the best, considering that people are widely playing it 8 years after its release

LOLOLOL, I refuse to drink anything from Fourbucks!

QFT.

Massive scale battles on the LAN. Fun. Looking forward to Supreme Commander.

i  mavericks

ARM owns. I got for air domination because the ARM can build extra fast.

Fleet of Thunders, Hawks, and Brawlers. Hawks fly fasts take out anti-air, brawlers own ground units, and thunders bomb buildings. With FARKS and 10 advanced air craft factories, I can pump out aircraft so FAST.
Anyone see supreme commandeR? I lmost sh1t my pants thinking how it's going to kill all other rts.

think of all the custom games that were created with the map editor too. Soo many wonderful hours spent playing smash tv, tower defense, zerg wars etc

Total Annihilation was much better (best RTS yet, IMO), but StarCraft always overshadowed it.

Supreme Commander will kick ass.

One of the better games where surgical strikes could criple an opponent. Rather than winning through massed armies.

Warcraft started like that in beta, than became the same old mass and smash style.

Nothing better than getting a triple nuke drop on multiple map spots, within a few seconds.

Wahhhhhh, Nuclear Launch Detected
Wahhhhhh, Nuclear Launch Detected
Wahhhhhh, Nuclear Launch Detected

Opponent: So wrong...

You would have to place the nuke on a spot where the laser didn't show up easily for maximum effectiveness.

starcraft took RTS in a whole new direction. 3 sides with drastically different play styles and units that remain the most well balanced RTS to this day.

I never really enjoyed Starcraft that much. I did hover enjoy a RTS called Dark Reign. Nobody probably remembers it though. I liked the scout feature in the game.

I never got into gaming...ok...once for a few times...that was it. It got really boring playing in computer labs in college, being the only girl...

warcraft III you can still do surgical strikes. Between early rushes, air attacks, or cat attacks you can still hurt the enemy pretty badly, even turn the tide of the battle

I think starcraft was soo appealing cause of the balance [though it did take some time]. Eventually there were three sides catered to certain styles of play who each had about an equal chance of winning, It really did depend on the player more so then anything else.

Anyway I've been to starbucks three times, and twice they messed up my iced caramel macchiato (spelling?) so i'm getting frustrated. Probally one of the least enjoyable gift certificates i've gotten. Normally they are so good with it.. but i guess since it's already 'paid for' they just dont care 🙁

You may not enjoy it, but that doesn't mean it sucks. Seriously, how can you say that? Think about it: they have 3 separate races, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, and in general it's balanced pretty well. There were never that many patches and most of the time they were only for minor things. The story gameplay was pretty good and was easy at the beginning and harder towards the end, or you could just play melee or FFA games on different maps. Plus, the multiplayer was good too.

So, again, while you may not have liked it, that game was far too well-made to say it sucks.

one of the best games of all time

op is either a RA fanboy or just a bad computer game player...perhaps a console fanboy too?

I played Dark Reign too...had some issues, but had some very cool features as well...

"Nuclear launch detected"
"Nuclear launch detected"

WTF, I killed your ghost and the nuke still hit??!!?

Wrong Ghost sucker....

Acutally I meant to mention that Warcraft III started out fairly tatical, based around the heroes then they became fodder.

Tatical is not a rush, or air attack... Tatical in Starcraft would be the ability to bring in 2 maybe 3 units and total stop your opponents resource gathering/production ability. Thereby crippling his army production, allowing you to finish him off easily.

Units en masse is just another swarm tatic, that all other RTSs relied on to do large combat. Starcraft bred the counter system. Unit A was good at taking out Unit B. Though Unit C could wipe the floor with unit A. Etc...

It is very good, probably the best game of its time.

But Warcraft III > Starcraft by any comparison (except by fanboys who never really gave WC3 a chance).

ROFLOL!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

nice one lola.

I don't know if it was revolutionary, but it was a good game.

Total Annihilation was far better and it's a shame that we don't have a TA2.

I think you are mistaken. 🙂

Revolutionary? How is it any different than any other RTS that came out?

Even Red Alert was much better than SC.

red alert had 2 sides who's units were very similar. half the techs in red alert are never used in a competitive game. even with only 2 sides with very similar units, red alert was not very well balanced. red alert did not add that much to the original command and conquer. units, buildings, tech tree, resources were pretty much the same. and then red alert 2 comes out couple years later and can you imagine it? its the same damn game.

No.

^most educated response I've ever seen, heres to insightful and intelligent lifers!!!^

lol, don't get your panties in a twist. 😛

If you are judging my intelligence by a one word reply on a computer forum then perhaps you are the one who should be worried.

I don't agree with what he said about balance. I thought RA was balanced just fine...but then with SC...all I hear about is the zerg rush. How is that balance? I will say that, yes, SC was pretty had many innovations, but it should, especially considering it came out more than two years AFTER the original C&C, which was also groundbreaking for its time, IMO.
