Starcraft Sucks

I thought it sucked when it was first released and I think it sucks today inspite of the Blizzard fanboys who claim it is the greatest game of all time.

I think the fact that half of south korea plays and buys potato chips with zerg on the package is a greater indication to its sucktitude.

A couple of RTSs (From that era) that are better include Red Alert and TA.

A typical starcraft LAN game last about 5, maybe 10 minutes. It's just spam a certain unit and rush them while building more and more farms and SCVs. You don't even GET to play with any of the advanced units. If both players are talented, a 1v1 game may last 15 minutes top. A game of Red Alert, with two talented players, can last hours with neither side getting a serious advantage. A game of TA could theoretically last DAYS. Everyone tried to tank rush in TA when they first got and relaized the problem of leaving scrap at your enemy doorstep is really bad for your side so Tank rushing was alomst eliminated. In RA, Tank Rushing was a viable strategy but a talented player could stop it pretty easily.

In starcraft, it's just rush this and rush that and it is just a flat out who can get the resources first.

If i had to rank the AIs in the three games, it would be 1)TA 2)RA 3)SC.

The single player plot in SC was dumb, Red Alert was entertaining, and I liked the TA plot.

-Those horrible looking CGI cutscenes were painful to look at even back then. I felt like I was watching an episode of Babylon 5.

-The Units in RA were so much more fun to play with. Can a stupid bunker even compare to the awsomeness of a Tesla Coil? TA had soooo many units it was rediculous.

-For every one unit you build in SC you can build a dozen in RA or TA, it gives that whole war aspect of the game a much more real feel. I don't like going into battle with 10 soldiers and a couple of tanks and easily being able to over run their base.

starcraft is a classic game. i dont see what you think is wrong with it. it was a superior and revolutionary game at its time. blizzard always scores big on almost every game they release. theyre a very credible and reliable company.

I CANNOT BELEIVE I SAID THAT.
SORRY. i ahve breasts on the brain (literally!)
yeah, i am blonde!

Revolutionary? How is it any different than any other RTS that came out?

Even Red Alert was much better than SC.

Yes, Starbucks is overpriced.

When it first came out, and even many years after it came out it was an amazing RTS. However, I went back and played it after playing more modern RTSs and realised it leaves something to be desired. In my eyes it's now a "For it's time" game...

Agreed. I never got into SC much because I was too busy with the Command and Conquerer series.

red alert had 2 sides who's units were very similar. half the techs in red alert are never used in a competitive game. even with only 2 sides with very similar units, red alert was not very well balanced. red alert did not add that much to the original command and conquer. units, buildings, tech tree, resources were pretty much the same. and then red alert 2 comes out couple years later and can you imagine it? its the same damn game.

starcraft took RTS in a whole new direction. 3 sides with drastically different play styles and units that remain the most well balanced RTS to this day.
