Don't really like saying it, but I don't like the direction they are going with the Zerg. They seem too...clean. In Starcraft 1, they seemed a lot more organic and savage. Now they just look like clay figures.

Agreed, I think the Zerg should really have that gross, bug-like feel to them (which the first starcraft managed to get pretty well).

Have you seen the gameplay videos? They still have that feel when they're in motion imo. The zergling swarms look insane.

Yeah, I just about giggled out loud watching the part in the video where kerrigan stops talking and the rush begins.

Dude, you guys are all over analyzing. Who care about the graphics as long as they get the balance right and the game is fun? The videos they've released so far look pretty damn fun in my opinion, and it's still a long way from done so it's going to do nothing but get better.

The starcraft Q&As have addressed having DOTA in SC2, you should check them out (links to old Q&As are on battle.net). They basically said the map editor for SC2 will be very powerful and something like DOTA should definitely be doable.

Is that English?

*************

I'm going to bookmark this thread for future reference, I think a lot of you doubters are going to be doing some serious backpeddling when SC2 is released.

I think it looks great, it will play great, and have a GREAT story. That's 3 greats, which is 2.75 more greats than most titles will get from me.

Basically, he's in ur base, killin' ur doodz.

Yikes, when I first saw the screen shot I thought "Oh, look its the original starcraft, now where is SC II...... Oh" That has to be the most underwhelming picture I have seen of SCII yet.

That's the problem with going 3D. It's hard to make things look organic and alive. Everything ends up looking at least a little bit cartoony.

Have u played Doom 3 ? The sludge things" in there were organic and creepy as hell looking.

3D isn't the problem,, it's a lack of effort I'm sure. Lead of development may be well aware of gameplay and markets, but they've seemed to wan on the art direction.

I don't get it, what couldn't be deduced from what I wrote prior. It isn't proper english, but I don't think I deserve any sort of mockery.

I know there are a ton of starcraft fans out there so I dont mean this with any disrespect but I really thought the graphics would look better. I think things look very similar to warcraft 3 and I expected more. Maybe by the time i see it in person it will be more impressive. I still plan on buying the game and think it will be a lot of fun though. I just thought with a sequal of this magnitude they would go all out to impress with the graphics and gameplay not jsut gameplay. I guess a lot of units and the lazers and whatnot i saw in videos looked good just no wow factor at all.

I got all excited until I saw that EB has the released date as December.🙁

I saw that too from the gamespot link and thats probably total BS! They are just doing that so people will preorder from BB. Thats almost false advertising IMO. For it to be released by that time, they'd have to almost have finished the game and gone into beta for a least several months to balance it.

This is Blizzard we are talking about, they will probably release this late 2008. Possibly even 2009.

yeah.. and what type of game is doom3? right, it's an FPS... NOT AN RTS. totally different engines are required to make an RTS vs FPS. i can't believe you actually just made such a comparison

Graphically, I'll stand for SC1 with updated resolutions.

To OP: How does it look any more chaotic than SC1?

Thats the point.
Your supposed to improve on sequels, not just copy what you did before.
So far I am not seeing anything the game is doing to further RTS.
It looks like every other RTS , just set in starcraft colors.

I'm waiting for the final game just like everyone else.
I just want to see the sequel stand on its own.

Try to think of starcraft II as not having the starcraft legacy,
would it still be a hit, and would it still be popular ?
If so , why ?
What does the game have that will make it stand apart from other RTS ?
