StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

So, I'm a few missions in and I'm really digging it!

I just hope it's a nice long campaign... I don't want to finish this too quick.

Have they said anything about whether Legacy of the Void will take as long to come out as this did?

I'm still debating whether to buy this; I pretty much only play custom arcade maps right now, although getting all of the achievements for the campaign on brutal was fairly difficult.

I'm still angry they cut the beta short and didn't give me enough time to get my custom portrait. 🙁

Is it worth 60 bucks for you to have 7 or 8 new units?

Mine has not yet arrived. Amazon did not ship it until yesterday, even though I pre-ordered it ages ago.

30 bucks (for me) is still not a good deal for rebalancing, which used to be free.

And actually, I was fine with the unit stats from day one. Every time they change things I have to learn a new method of play.

You are paying for new content and new units, which just happen to affect the balance of the game.

Also, this is no different than how pretty much every RTS expansion has been launched. If anything you should be complaining about the genre as a whole.

I'm a little bummed out by what Zerg got. The Viper is cool but the Swarm Host is quite possibly the most boring unit ever, and it makes for very dull replay watching.

There is also the 30 or so single player missions.

To me it is well worth it.

I ought to complain to Blizzard then, because I'm pretty sure that I paid for Brood War! 😱

30 new single player missions, new multiplayer units, movies, cutscenes, and storyline...for $30 that's a steal.

HotS only has 20 missions, iirc. They got feedback that WoL was "too long" (suuure ya did) and made HotS shorter.

The storyline I can do without, and the cutscenes would be great if they didn't have the horrible story embedded in them.

That said, campaign should be a blast. I'm excited to see all the zerg strain choices. And then multiplayer after that 😀 My CE should come in today...

I absolutely loved the SP missions from WoL. Looking forward to this in HotS. For $40, this will be a solid investment. I was also one of the folks who payed full-price for both SC and BW, and was happy to do so. I don't see this as any different.

Have you played in the last month? Cuz it has improved.

Of course, I dont like the new menu, but thats a separate issue.

Havent played in ages. I bought the game on release, most popular custom map was the only one played because of how bnet listed them, reinstalled again a year later, same shit slightly different map... uninstalled.

What has improved? Are the customs as varied as the ones from SC1?

Any information whether this update enables SC2 to utilize CPU cores any differently than before (e.g., support for more than 2 cores)?

For me, getting this was mostly about the single player. Which is really good so far. I hope it is 30 missions and not 20. Anyone who really did complain WOL was too long needs to die.

I've always enjoyed RTS games, since Age of Empires 1 and Red Alert 1... those were the first two I played, I think. I don't seem to have the right sort of brain/personality to be really GOOD at them, so I've never really tried to be. I enjoy playing with friends and have a very limited tolerance for playing against strangers online.

For me, $40 to see the story continue is well worth it. WOL's story had some goofy things about it, but so far it seems like HotS is better written.
