The difference between the 460 and the 5850 is just a few fps. Even closer when you consider minimum frame rate. (The 460 actually wins a benchmark there).

The 5850 needs to drop down to $199 to be competitive with the 460.

What benchmark did it win?

Well one thing is certain, this is one of countless reviews that shows how incorrect and misleading your signature is. ():)

While it's good to know that AA works for both vendors, I'm not sure who would actually turn it on while playing SC2. People with computers powerful enough that they can turn on something they'll never notice just because?

SC2 just isn't the kind of game where you have the time to admire all the pretty straight lines. I mean, I'm really never looking at the same thing from the same position for more than a second, let alone close enough to actually notice the results of AA.

Using 4x MSAA from day one.

Starcraft 2 looks like god awful shit without it.

What benchmark did it win?

1600x900 minimum framerate (which I consider an important factor). I was noting that in minimum frame rate the 2 cards are virtually even.

My quote is in regards to DX11 & Tessellation and is not misleading at all feel free to click the link or read the most recent Xbit article on the subject.

Actually the truth is your quote is in regards to one game out of every one in that review, the only game where the 460 came near the 5870, equaling it.

It lost out to it in every other benchmark. Going on your sig, yeah, totally misleading.

Carry on.

And it losses in all the others. under every other metric.

Would it make you feel better if I add the Xbit review where in wins 3 other benchmarks?

Yeah, thats a lot better 3 wins and loses in every other game? I'd like to see that. Maybe you could tell me which card is still faster, cause I'm not sure right now.

Unless you think xbit labs is god (and yes I like em) there is other benches in the internet.
I like the minimums vs a 5870.

The 210$ ASUS overclocked gtx 460 1gb card I linked above vs the 380$ 5870. No match.

An observer chiming in: it's hilarious to see Nvidia Damage Control Groups (TM) reporting for duty in a thread that clearly, objectively displays ATI's dominance in SC2 AA. We've gone from "Nvidia is the only option for SC2 AA!" (knowing that ATI would provide a fix) to "Nvidia has the best bang for the buck card!" It's a good thing that ATI hasn't needed to drop their pricing in, how many months now? Hint: that's a sign of a company not worrying about decreasing demand. Oh, is that the sound of Nvidia planning another price cut? http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/gra...ces-once-again (From happy medium's thread).

Whatever you do, do NOT buy ANY Nvidia cards for now guys! Best bang for the buck dictates that you wait a bit longer for Nvidia to cut prices again in a desperate attempt to move units!

I believe he said he would link me to an Xbit article with 3 reviews of the 460 beating the 5850 I assume the 460 loses in the others. Which makes it slower.

As for that bench, I like the average vs the 460

Bench is pointless though without context. As per the xbit reviews all those benches were run on ultra settings. That picture of a 'bench' is likely on low settings going on the frames, unfortunately it makes no mention of the settings they used, likely low or normal; the information it leaves out is where the truth of the numbers lies.

It's a shame the 460 can only give playable frames on ultra with AA at 1680x1050 and below. Starcraft 2 looks amazing on ultra in my opinion. The image quality difference between low/normal and ultra is huge. The 460 is a nice card for the mid range though and its price shows accordingly.

Just look for something more powerful at high resolutions for 1920x1200 and up, like a 5850/5870 or 470/480.

It's nice to have AA on ultra

We can disagree on alot of things, but you can't tell me that the best solution right now for this game is not the Asus gtx 460 1gb Top 800 core edition for 210$ shipped. or 2 of these in sli. A 5870 cost 393$ shipped on newegg. I much rather have 420$ sli'ed 1gb gtx 460's with a 800 core factory overclock. You realize that overclock puts it neck and neck with a 5850.

The thread is ATi vs Nvidia and we are all after best bang for the buck.

Mate, You are right, thats why I wasn't arguing with you. What I want are those 3 benches showing the 460 being faster than the 5850 is starcraft 2 with AA (Which is what this thread is about) that wreckage promised.

Im not arguing about value for money here (I think its dumb to buy a card for a 1 game)

Stop twisting peoples words. The 3 benches that I was referring to was using DX11 and Tessellation. Please read the entire thread before posting such nonsense.

You guys chase me around this entire board and it gets you nowhere.

Well this is a thread about starcraft 2 AA performance, I don't know what your doing here if you aren't discussing performance in that game

Please stay on topic.

Now Either show me those benches or retract your previous statement.
