I won my first practice match, but I'm still disappointed in my build speed. I started out about equal to my partner and then he way out-resourced me :p. We still whomped those Tossers though... silly people thinking a ton of cannons + 10 Stalkers is a good defense.

My Siege Tanks > Your Stalkers!

It's fun to counter toss cannon proxy cheese and wipe out their entire base since it's undefended

The challenging aspect of the campaign is not what interests me... I don't really care for a "challenge." (i.e. try a strat, fail. Try another, fail again... repeat until success or try until your micro is better than a computer)

You do realize you're playing a strategy game right? The kind where you try a strat, fail, try again etc until you have figured out a good strat? If you cannot even stand doing that on single player, you're going to hate multiplayer, because that is all you do.

I keep forgetting to look up my identifier when I get home, too excited to get to play!! Maybe I'll remember to look tonight.

Can anyone confirm that Blizzard will let you switch regions in the future?

SEA to US is confirmed, others are not yet planned but Blizzard said they hope to achieve it.

I've added in all the usernames upto this post, if you haven't sent yours through - do so now :)

We currently have 22 users. Probably best for us to add each others as friends, etc. and co-ordinate in game. Also, if there's enough interest, someone should organise a weekly gaming session? I'll join you guys once SEA is allowed to play on the US servers.

God damn blizzard fanbois and their gay lingo.

Does that mean "scout with a probe, shove a pylon just out of their visual range and then 6 cannons on their front door"?

Cuz a dude did that to me in one of my placement matches and I cried for 5 minutes.

The classic proxy cannons are placed behind your base so they reach your mineral line and shut down your mining pretty fast. Someone jamming cannons at your front door, especially if you are zerg, generally isn't trying to kill you outright but trying to contain you in your base and then expand freely and crush you after you manage to break out. In that situation it's important to keep your cool, stop them from advancing far enough to do damage, and to prepare for a fast counter which bypasses the cannon blockade (drops, nydus, air units, etc).
I beat a high diamond leaguer who cannon contained me, expanded and started making stalkers and phoenixes by going fast muta. We both screwed up a couple of times and it ended up being a close fight.

Haha, yes that is what it means. However, I LOVE it when people do it, because it usually means I can destroy them. One siege tank and any cannons somebody can bring forth will be destroyed. One dropship in their base and they suddenly have no resources. That is why it's called cheese. These strategies work well against somebody who has never seen them before, but for somebody who has and doesn't over-react it is easily defended against.

When someone really good does this stuff, it's not easily defended against. Great players can trip on it or struggle mightily too. See the IdrA vs Tester series of matches.
And I believe siege tanks are far from key units vs cannons. They come too late to matter. Terrans rarely get cannoned in the first place because marines, bunkers and marauders make it difficult.

Maybe that's why it's always so easy for me, always play terran and only n00bs bother proxy cannoning me.

Cannoning zerg is almost pointless because of creep spreading and spine crawlers. Against protoss it can be effective because they have no siege units till collosus + thermal lance. But getting that cheese started with early stalkers makes it difficult. Tanks are relatively easy to get in a 1-1-1 opening and marauders can hold their own well against a rush. It's definitely a hassle, but you should have the economic advantage if you can break it.

Just have my first stalemate. We are both Terran. I have a few ground forces and a whole bunch of SCV's He has to command post's that are flying around. I have nothing that can attack the air and I lost my command post with no money left :(
