I'm now also a proud owner of a legal copy. Well first impression is the whole menu thing is a bit complicated at first sight. but then i rarely ever read manuals so...

Did a few missions in the campaign. But will probably spend more time in MP. Did a few matches vs. AI. On normal it's a joke. Don't now anything about the new units still was easy to just out mass the AI. Toss AI build these sentry things pretty quickly. No idea what they are used for. They made some kind of blue shield but that didn't seem to have any negative effect on me.

To bad I could not choose my desired name. No special chars allowed. my sc1 bnet name made use of them 🙁.

I have a problem with SP mode...
The mission where I need to gather 8000 minerals, does not end for me. I did gather 8000 minerals and the mission did not end?
Wtf?

You gather 8000 minerals then get mercenary forces from a guy, then you take out the guy who was trying to get the resources before you with the mercenaries guys. At least I think that's how it went. It's hard to remember.

This games single player sucks balls. I beat the campaign. Suck the whole way. It was dreadfully boring. Anyone know if you can just use cheats to get all the campaign achievements? I don't feel like replaying that shit on hard and then brutal.

It was probably boring because you played easy mode.

Why do you want all the campaign achievements if you haven't played through it anyway? they don't really serve any purpose, except for maybe unlocking one or two crappy portraits. And there are no cheats for them.

If I can beat it on normal, that means it's incredibly easy.

I couldn't even beat the 3rd mission on hard.

What really bothers me though, is the fact that the time to next lava eruption does not countdown anymore. Something is seriously wrong.
I have competed both primary and esocndary objectives and the map won't end...

Edit:
Patch 1.0.2:
Fixed an issue where campaign mission victories would not always trigger properly.

🙂

For those interested in adding ATOT members, be sure to send them a message with who you are in game so we know what's up. As far as I'm aware, there is no notification for adding to the friend's list unless it's a RealID request.

What does insane mode do for the AI besides make them smart/less-dumb? I know for hard mode it bumps up the armor at least.
He's talking about skirmish. There is actually an achievement for beating 2 insane A.I.'s at once. Also, play the campaign on Brutal; it's much more challenging.

The challenging aspect of the campaign is not what interests me... I don't really care for a "challenge." (i.e. try a strat, fail. Try another, fail again... repeat until success or try until your micro is better than a computer)

anyone beat SP 1vsai on insane mode?

I've done the 1v2 Insane on live and I did the 1v3 Very Hard in beta. The AI is pretty dumb so you just have to exploit that. You'll never win in a straight up macro battle since the game is mathematically stacked against you.

1v1 you can win straight up, all you have to do is stay alive until they run out of minerals.

For the out numbered achievements you pretty much have to cheese 1 or 2 of the opponents to win. Proxy bunker/early pool/proxy pylon to kill off the first player(s) and then just play the last one.

As far as I know, very hard gets a very slight bump in resource gathering (they get more resources per harvest than normal) and brutal gets ~ double the resources per harvest. Both use the same tactics but brutal gets around double the units. The bumping up the armor you saw was probably that they just research more aggressively but it could be they get it by default.

Very hard does not get any extra resources, only insane.

The increase for insane is also 2 extra per trip, IIRC, not double.

"temporary outage of the battle.net service, please try again later".

WTF, the only chance I've had to play in the last 3 days...

EDIT>> WoW login is working just fine. :|

Any tips on beating 1 vs 7 AI, FFA, insane difficulty... without using Terran?

There's a protoss 1v7 strategy at gamefaqs.com at the bottom of the only FAQ posted so far (by "Shockwave-xpow" - after a bunch of well-written multiplayer advice). It boils down to picking a map with islands and relocating to two defensible islands while seven zerg AI beat each other up, then mopping up with a high tech airborne 200/200 force.

Thanks, gunna have to check that one out.

The clash between my 200 supply Terran airforce vs 200 supply zerg flying deathball was the first time this game really brought my computer down to its knees.
