Alright, got stomped and put into Bronze.
And it was all cheesy wins. Protoss players always shoved a pylon on my front step with a couple of proton cannons.
Zerg always rushed me with zerglings. Thats how all my placement matches went.
So I guess its OK to use cheap tricks so long as you win? And only the loser gets to talk shit about such things?
And the guys in bronze are pretty darn consistent with cheese tactics. Did the same thing on the ladder matches too. AND talked shit to me when I didnt surrender at the first sign of action. As if I awe them an easy win or something.
Bonus mission....hidden objectives....thank you Blizzard for getting me excited to play a game again. It's been a long time, now I get to watch the clock until I'm done with work.
finally get SC2 from Dell (they used some crappy packaging too)
takes 45-50 minutes to install then add some more time to DL and install patches
start up SC 2 and get shown the message "An error occurred starting Starcraft II. Please try again." too lazy to try to fix right now, but I am curious about one thing.
I played the SC 2 beta no problem. the difference between now and then though is that the SC 2 beta install was on a 1 partition hard drive with the OS. I've since split the hard drive into 2 partitions (OS and apps) and installed SC 2 to the apps partition.
can anyone confirm that they've done something similar and has SC 2 working correctly for them? thanks.
can i inquire as to what kind of comp you are on that it took almost an hour to install? because it seriously took me like 10 minutes. as per your partition issue i don't know, but its possible i guess
anyway i have 2 guest passes as well, provided you arent currently on my ignore list ill gladly give them out
Maybe it is just me, but is anyone else annoyed the general is only a 3 star? I guess because I am American, I would have figured the American rank system to be on English speaking human military. In reality, the general should have been at the very least a 4 star, if not a 5 star after he came out of retirement.
This is far into the future and besides, the Terrans aren't exactly the same civilization as the people from Earth so why would they have the same military ranks?

My comp is a i7 930 @ 3.8ghz, 4gb RAM, 7200 RPM HDD, SATA optical drive, HD5850 and it took me probably 15-20 min to install the game plus a few more minutes for the updates.
I have the CE and there were 2 guest passes (physical cardboard inserts) for SC2 and 2 for WoW.

Loving the game so far, in gold league 2v2 and silver 1v1(which is bs, comp crashed on a 1v1 and i got a loss). The game is so much faster than what I remember but I've had some epic battles and most people online haven't been poor sports.
I also have 1 guest pass left over if anyone is interested just PM me.
Also the fact that the game runs on my computer without an issue during multiplayer is a testament to Blizzard's programming staff. I can't believe it works on this laptop but it cruises along fine.

So, question, does anyone else get a ton of lag when trying to play "lan" with someone else? My brother picked up two copies and was nice enough to give me one last night. We played several 2v2 (with AI) and all was well with only minor hick-ups. We then switched to 3v3 (again, against AI) and in the middle of the game it became a horrible slide show.
Both the PC's are within the reccomended stats (main and lan pc in my sig) and we did not max out the settings anyway. Could the issue have been due to the battle.net servers and having both our games going along the same connection and same IP address? This seems more likely than pc stats since both pc's started stuttering at the same time and they have fairly different parts. This has me worried as I want to do this at my next lan with 4-8 people but if it's a slide show with just 2 then we have a problem.
Just finished it. The last mission was decently difficult on Hard, and I eventually got bored and turned it down to Normal. Then it was way too easy.
Overall, excellent game. The single player was FAR better than the original, Brood War, Warcraft III, etc. The bonus missions are very nice, and achievements feel just rewarding enough to make me go the extra mile for something relatively simple. I won't be grinding for the ones that will require hours of work, though.
Now, time to try some custom matches vs. the AI, and then off to Battle.net for the real game play.
By the way,
did anyone else choose to kill the nidus network on the second-to-last mission? I thought dealing with fliers would be easy, but I didn't realize they'd still be launching hydras, lings, and roaches at my ground defenses constantly. The only way tactic I found that worked was keeping a decent ground defense (2 siege tanks, 2 bunkers, 4 perdition towers, and a few missile turrets for support) at each of the two base openings, and then running with a heavy army of battle cruisers with vikings for the occasional brood lord snipe (since BCs take forever to move). The Yamato cannon worked really well against Kerrigan. I'm curious to see if the mission would have been easier if I took out the fliers instead of the nidus network.
Finally, for anyone that's having trouble with missions later on,
research the science vessel and tech reactor (combined reactor and tech lab add-on). 2-3 science vessels can heal up a large mechanical army easily while away from your base, allowing you to roam freely and kill without pausing to repair. Tech reactors allow you to train two of any available unit at a barracks, factory, or star port simultaneously, which can help you to build up a massive Goliath / Thor / Banshee / etc. army very easily
