Nay - I'm not too fond of their plain old coffee, a bit too rich for my tastes.. and I'm not metro enough to get a whipped-double-latte-cappuspresso type thing. Then there's the cost.

100% correct, but you left out one part. It should read:

overpriced, mediocre coffee served by intellectually challenged people with severe attitude problems to clueless trend-sucking dilettantes who foolishly believe that tacking on an Italian-suffix makes it better.

Just because people are too lazy to make their own coffee, Starbucks charges insane prices for a drink. It's so much cheaper to buy good coffee from a specialty store and brew it yourself. Just get a coffee maker at work if you don't have time at home or something. Can also get those mugs that plug into the cigarette lighter to keep your homemade coffee hot on your commute.

In most cases, nay. But the Pumpkin Spice Latte, mmm... so yay.

EDIT: If there were some way to get that spice combo and add it to my own brewed coffee, that would be awesome. Starbucks coffee usually just tastes burned to me otherwise.

It has a good environment, as in the way everything looks and is setup
I like the way they do everything from taking order to making it
It's a nice place to go away from home with some friends.

I don't drink coffee but I can see why people like the place

Some are able to get it in the syrup form, but imo, it leaves a really bad aftertaste, and it leaves a nasty film in your mouth too. If you want to make a pumpkin spice latte gustatorily analogous to *$, then you would need to do something like the following:

- A teaspoon or so of brown sugar
- A little bit of pumpkin pie spice mix
- A little bit of whip cream
- A tiny bit of cinnamon; it helps round it out

I drink this, but family and friends enjoy the PS latte, and some of the other *$ drinks, so I make it for them. Mine comes out far better, because I'm able to produce what's called microfoam; a rich, velvety, sweet milk that feels like silk on the tongue. So good...

too much money, poorly made coffee, and all of their special blends taste the same which means they probably need to start cleaning their machines. I dont use cream or sugar so i know thats not why it tastes the same. Its a trend i have seen in 5-6 stores in two seperate towns and why i have gone once in a year.

On the other hand, the baked goods are awesome.

their coffee tastes like old socks...

and "tons of cream, chocolate sauce, and carmel with mild coffe flavoring" doesn't qualify as coffee.

That's like saying Wendy's can't have a chicken sandwich because they're a burger place. Starbucks have regular coffee, just like Wendy's has hamburgers, however there are other alternatives.

How ignorant to assume that providing choice is somehow a black mark.

I love being able to go anywhere in NYC, pay $2 for a cup of coffee, sit in a comfortable chair and work on my laptop on my company's Starbucks wireless account for as long as I please.

If you speak English anything like you type it on these forums, I'd probably look at you like you were speaking Greek as well. :p

After working at over 10 different starbucks for over 4 years, I somehow find this hard to believe.

Haven't worked there in 2 years but I doubt that much has changed.
