I hate Starbuck's cup size names too, why can't they just use small, medium, large like everyone else?

Wow...a repost within the same thread....I think that's a first...

Ok here goes.

The original sizes were Short, Tall, and Grande.

Fatass America wanted a larger size.. hence Venti (italian for 20) for 20 ounces. Short became very unpopular and was phased out, leaving Tall to be the smallest size because they were already established and did not want to swap around on customers.

Most pizza places I go to have 3 sizes: Medium, Large and Extra-Large.
Luckily, I never want a small pizza.

You could consider their personal pizzas as small.

This is your gripe with starbacks? that when you said small she said tall, and not that when you said small, she gave you a tall, and then charged you 8 bucks? Essh you msut be loaded 😉

but in all seriousness if you say small, regular/medium, or large (or as i prefer to say... BIG). they'll generally know what you mean and just confirm anyway. *shrugs*. Most coffee places i know do it by those sizes save.. mcdonalds?

The funniest thing about starbucks is that people actually feel compelled to TIP these people.

To even further belittle this retarded rant that the OP posted, you cannot order a large at Wendy's, Burger King, etc.. you have to order King Size or Biggie Size.

I like the substance of your rant, but the delivery leaves a bit to be desired. The dialogue is nice, but it just needs more raw frustration, along with some commentary on the human condition. 6/10

Wow, I didn't know that, somewhere deep down inside, I just knew someone at starbucks' marketing division wasn't stupid enough to name the smallest size Tall

McDonalds is the only place around here that uses Small/Med/Large

And Starbucks does still do short drinks, its just not listed on the menu.

Let me preface this by saying that I usually go to either Coffee People (local chain), or a local bookstore/coffee shop to satisfy my caffeine cravings. So anyway, we just finished a project at work, and my boss gives us all Starbucks gift cards. I go in there today and ask for my usual small double latte.

Chick behind counter: Can I get something started for you?
dainthomas: I'd like a small double latte.
Chick behind counter: Tall?
dainthomas: Huh?
Chick behind counter: Tall double latte?
dainthomas: SMALL double latte.
Chick behind counter: Tall is our smallest size.
dainthomas: Umm, OK then.

So why the hell, if she knew what I meant, could she not have just made me a friggin' small and left me in peace? I don't want a friggin' conversation, I just want my coffee. Does she really make enough to care? And why is Starbucks too cool to use the normal sizing system that 99% of the world uses?

Cliffs:

1. I want a small coffee.
2. Starbucks employee corrects me.
3. My non-caffeinated brain can't compute.
4. Starbucks names are stupid.

Go to a Gas station and buy some Cheaper Coffee,
not fancy overpriced snob swill.
