Star Wars vs Star Trek: Which is better and why?

Starwars - It dosen't suck?. Heh heh, j/k, there's more money put into SW and better stroy lines I feel. What would you take, a phaser or light saber?

phaser. i'd vaporize you from 50 ft. away and then take your light sabre. 😀

Id have to say star wars, more interesting to me, and jedi are just crazy.
I will agree that Star Wars is more fantasy than scifi in alot of ways, its just like magic and swords, in space... but thats not a bad thing

just for the sake of saying how much of a nerd i am... id just reflect it with the lightsaber vaporize you and then use my force powers to push your ashes out the airlock for good measure

id say natalie portman is damn hot as well, but i figured we were talking about the universe they live in not people in the series

Star Wars (4-6) is timless, good vs. evil. Sort of like Sci-Fi Braveheart or something. Luke dueling with his "Vater" in the thrown room of Jedi is one of the most memorable scenes in movie history.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Natalie 😱. Yes she's how, but the new episodes suck otherwise. As to the Leias gold-bikini.... How about Seven of Nine? in skin-tight suit? And of course, T'pol and the "oil-scene"....

Ever notice that in Star Wars there seems to be NO standardization of ship design? In Star Trek, there are a few ship types and that's about it. (In TNG, I've even noticed that they reused a couple of designs for generic alien ships.) Star Trek has some pretty cool deflector shield technology, but these shields, for some reason, are always failing. Star Wars has better aliens (like the bugs from Gianosis), while Star Trek is largely humans with prosthetic foreheads all speaking English. Weapons technology is limited on both sides; Star Trek has phasers, disruptors, photon, quantum, and transphasic torpedoes, and that's about it. Star Wars has light sabers (great for closeup hand-to-hand work, but that's about it) and blasters, and ships have blasters and the very cool "seismic charges". Nobody's using any form of slug-thrower.

Edit: How could I forget WMD? The Death Star vs. Species 8472's planet-busting energy weapon used against the Borg.

Star Wars has droid and clone armies, bounty hunters, Jedi Knights, and Sith Lords, while Star Trek has the pansy-ass Federation, the Romulans, the Klingon Empire, the Gem'Hadar, and the Borg.

Star Wars has economic blockades and the Trade Federation, while Star Trek has the Ferengi and the Federation's pseudo-communist police-state "New Economy".

Which is better? Remember, you're pitting George Lucas' "stellar" writing talent against the creative geniuses that brought you Wesley Crusher, aka "the boy", and countless boring Holodeck episodes..

What's been around longer?
A phaser on wide beam at max level can destroy a building. Your Lightsaber won't block that.
Star Trek could have clone Armies but all the powers have outlawed cloning of entire beings.

The reason Star Wars has more ships and aliens, is the artists are given more leadway with designing stuff, seeing as how the Empire spans the whole galaxy, where as Star Trek is limited to roughly 10% of the galaxy.

But i can tell you I'd rather have an army of blood thirsy klingons on my side, than a bunch of pansy storm troopers.
Plus Q could wipe out every Jedi with the click of his fingers.

Well, ever since Lucas decided to rewrite history by f&cking up the original trilogy (vowing never to release it in it's original form again), I'd say that Star Trek is better, just on principle.
