Star Wars Trilogy on DVD at Fry's - $36.99

This is the lowest price I've seen the trilogy for so far at the retail level. The sale's advertised in today's San Jose Mercury Newspaper. This sale price is valid on 9/21 only!

I'm pretty sure the lines will be long, no doubt. The sales ad in the Mercury covers 6 locations. That pretty much covers all of the Bay Area here in CA.

If you're familiar with Fry's, you know the lines can be extremely crazy at times, especially for something like this.

I remember when they advertised The Godfather Collection on DVD for $39.99 for a Thursday sale. They had 25+ copies & they were all gone by 10:00 AM. This was for one store.

Anyway, if you're going to buy your set at Fry's on Tuesday, get there early. The doors open at 8:00 AM.

Thanks.

$36.99 is an awesome price, but after adding in tax (8.25% CA tax) and the cost of gas to get there I'm considering ordering from Amazon instead. They have it for $41.99. No tax and free shipping. Plus, I don't have to get up early to wait in line to get one, especially if what djnsmith7 says is true.

Great price, glad to see they are finally on DVD. I think I'll wait for the six pack, when ever that will be.

Best Buy already shipped their product already. Mine shipped 9/17. Best Buy has it for 42.99 plus a R2D2 Beneath the dome dvd free.

Same price at the Fry's in Austin (Friday's ad). Regarding out of stock stuff, I can recall only one time that a sale item was out of stock -- it was a disk drive with no rebate, it was 3 days after the sale started and they gave me a raincheck. They had an even better deal the following week so I never used it.

To avoid the 5 mile drive and more importantly, the lines, I may just take the ad and pricematch at CompUSA just around the corner. It depends on what else happens to be on sale.

Not that you guys wouldn't have known about this already but just in case...if you're gonna PM the Fry's price on SWT, you have to do it on Tuesday only since that price is good for that day only.

As always since I have no Frys remotely close to me I won't be able to get in on this. I wish they were more prevalent in the South.

This kills it for me:

Tax $3.29
Ground Shipping $8.34

I'd probably do 2nd Day Shipping anyway:

Tax $3.29
2nd Day Shipping $9.05

only $6 for me.

That link was for the Pan & Scan version

The best deal comes from using the Fry's Ad at Circuit City.

Fry's had Blade 2 for $6 and CC had it for $20. With a 110% pm the price was $4.59+tax.
Depending on CC price. You can get a good deal like that and no LINES.

Can i pricematch my local CC to the Frys price even though they don't have a local store within 100 miles?

Never had a problem with the Renton, WA Fry's on OOS merch either. They usually have entire pallets of ad items whenever I've been there to buy stuff.

Dropped by the SantaClara Frys: a steady stream of customers picking up the set. It was pretty amusing as the demographic of people buying the set seemed to be fairly uniform... all young to middle aged men. I think I saw only one woman out of 30 to 40 people.

I was having a hard attack when I thought they ran out of the widescreen version at the Campbell store. Next thing you know, two employees brought out 2 more boxes of widescreen versions! I was tempted to get the fullscreen version just to get it...but I thought....nah...

hard attack? whats that? death by woody? anyway, you scare me.

Wonder if I can convince my wife to drive down to Fry's after work with me to pick this up. She knows I've been waiting for this for years, so it would be evil of her to deny me my Star Wars DVD fix. 😀
