Dang. Here I was hoping the originals on VHS would be worth something someday. I'll probably buy these on DVD sometime in the future in a moment of weakness 🙁

The force is not strong in this one.

why do people care about the originals so much?

Because revising history for the sake of political correctness sucks. See also Spielberg altering E.T. such that the law enforcement officials carried walkie talkies instead of guns.

Of course, this means that we'll be able to buy the remakes for $2+shipping on ebay once these come out...

He didn't lie. It says it right there, "In response to overwhelming demand" His intention was to never do it, but then his wallet spoke up.
I doubt it. I think it was intended all along, to get people to buy the altered ones, and then OH WOW the originals!!! Now you have to buy again.
Agreed. Star Wars fans just ask to be fleeced, and you praise Lucas in the process of doing so.

Well crap, if I had only waited a little longer I could have gotten a good copy on dvd. This set I bought is horrible with the re-added scenes, and the totally different ending in Return of the Jedi.

i'll wait for the hd release of the super special edition where they refix the bad cg again. u know they have to, some of it just sucks.

I don't know of anyone EXPECT Lucas that KNOWS there is a HUGE money pile waiting for him but refuses to come pick it up! :| All I can say is, ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME!!

Now let me tell you Lucas's next move, releasing all six Star Wars movies in HD.

Damnit. I don't need two copies, but I won't be able to pass up the originals...

Exactly. This creates quite the problem for me.

People like you two are the exact market that they're looking for. You guys have fallen for their ploy.

<looks in couch for spare change for this version>

What are you talking about? He knows there is a huge money pile waiting for him - and he figures out how to extract FIVE HUGE MONEY PILES!

I have a friend who owns the original vhs releases, the thx enhanced vhs releases, the digitally enhanced with added scenes vhs releases, and the dvd releases. And I'm sure he's going to buy this new dvd version as well.

Next Lucas will release the HD movies with the added scenes. Then three years later he will release the originals in HD. This would give him seven huge money piles.

But he ain't getting nothing from me - episodes 1, 2, & 3 completely ruined Star Wars and I just have no desire to ever watch the original episodes again.
