Fixed your thread title.
George Lucas isn't getting my money until he releases the real version of "episode IV"

Han Solo fired first!

Agreed.

But LucASS thinks differently. :disgust:

I can guess whats going to happen.

The SE will be released on DVD, then less than a year later he will release the original editions on DVD.

I will also bet almost anything that a re-re-release of the movies theatriacally will be coming.

As a fan this bullsh!t pisses me off to no end. This man has turned into a greedy bastard.

His deal with Fox is just for the distribution of the film, for which they get a small percentage of the gross.
He keeps the rights to everything else. I also understand that the deals he wanted Fox to make with the exhibitors were way higher than industry standards.

I'd like a 10 DVD Box set

3 - Original Trilogy - Unedited

3 - Original Trilogy - SE

3 - New Trilogy

1 - Special Features (stuff that couldn't fit on the other dvds)

The reason movies like LOTR have so much special footage is that they planned it that way. I'm sure Lucas could dig up a lot of footage, but a lot of it probably ain't that special. I'd like to see that special footage added, but then it'd have to be a 20 DVD box set.

maybe if he is nice there will be an option to watch the movies in the original theatrical release or with the newer edits.

Why can't they just put both versions on the disc (with only the chapters that have been bastardized duplicated to keep the bitrate high enough)?

Like for Abyss and ID4 Special Editions? Because that would be the intelligent thing to do that would please the greatest number of fans and result in the lowest number of possible re-releases.

Good thing I don't know how to spell "guarantee".

Lucas can pry my Definitive Collection from my cold, dead fingers.

Lucas is an asshole. We don't want the "special edition" Georgie. How about the films you made in 1977-1981? Greedo didn't shoot first you fat fsck.

Who F'n Cares (well at least a few in here) about a HORRIBLE run of 5 movies, soon to be 6!!

I never 'got' Star Wars, it's plodding, boring and generally not interesting.

That being said, I'm more of a Matrix guy. Yes, all 3 I loved.

All of this rambling on the Internet won't do a darn thing to change Lucas' mind.

Here's what might change his mind: Don't buy them. Seriously.

If you want the original versions on DVD, DON'T BUY THE STAR WARS SPECIAL EDITION TRILOGY ON DVD. Don't give in. Don't do it. Your words mean nothing to Lucas. Your money DOES mean something. DON'T BUY IT!

^which is why he won't do it. Less releases, less $$$. Lucas = sellout.
