......anyone here thinking about playing SWG?

(if you don't know it's a MMORPG, coming out in april.....looks to be a great game....both for game play and graphics, alot of new idea....not the old everquest repackaged and set in space)

I just can't justify spending around $50 to start, then another $10-20 a month for a game...

Word of people who have never played a MMORPG. Or at least for very long.

Friend of mine is on the Beta for SW:G. Said it looks sweet, but they are really jacking up the "traditional" control interface. I'm not sure if I'll try it or not, mainly because EQ2 is coming out sometime after. Will just have to wait and see I guess.....

I'd like to check it out (especially the X-Box version) but I don't have the time that I used to where I could play MMORPGs and get my money's worth.

Are any of you guys interested in forming a PA....lol (SGW terms for a guild).......

........I'm just looking for some nice mature people to play with......I'm not talking a 200 person thing with 3 teirs of leaderships.........just a bunch of ppl looking to have a good time, and stuff.

PA's can have joint back accounts, guild houses, and stuff........and also it's just a lot easier/more fun to play with a group.....

comments?

If a game is good enough, it's not hard to justify spending $0.30 a day to play it. Think about this... how much did you spend on your computer that you play these games on? Also, $10 is the price of a movie ticket and a small soda!

I agree. I played EQ a lot when it first came out and still had a satisfying social life, as well as taking IT classes in my spare time. It has more to do with time management than anything else. Those addicted to EQ are the addicted type, if it wasn't EQ it would be something else in its place.

Lets not forget that it ends up being cheaper than that if you pay for 3/6/12 months at a time :D:D:D

I'll prolly stick with EQ till SW:G has been out a little bit. Lucas Arts doesn't have all that great of a history with their "first plunges" in to different genres......what was their first RTS game called again????

Actually, SW:G is being handled in conjunction with the Lucas folks by the same people who brought you EQ.

EQ is the only MMORPG that I saw that had that type of pricing.

AC1 & 2 are strictly monthly.

There isn't much. Those games are made with addiction in mind! How else are they gonna get your 10 bucks a month?

I for one know that I'd play too much for my own good :D

However, if a Middle-earth online was released I would play it anyway and kiss many other aspects of my life goodbye.

There isn't. Anyone who has played high level everquest would know. If you played beyond level 50 in a guild, chances are you sacraficed a lot of time doing so.

It is better to not even touch it, than to try and balance it into your schedule. Most know that now, thanks to EQ.

Middle-earth Online, a massively multiplayer role playing game, was announced in mid 1998. Nearly a year later, Sierra underwent a reorganization, which resulted in the cancellation of several game titles and the restaffing of the Middle-earth Online project. Since then, Sierra Studios has been tight lipped about the progress of the game but has repeatedly stated that it is being worked on and that new staff is being hired for the project. The current state of Middle-earth Online is not known at this time, but we'll keep you updated as things develop.
OH SHIT.

Well boys, nice knowin ya!

Heh, self control is your friend!!!

My wife actually made me have a "schedule" of when i'm on the computer. What I do during that time is up to me of course. As much as I hate having limited time, it keeps everything else in check. Now days, I'm lucky to get 10 hours a week in EQ.

There's more.....

"Finally, Asheron's Call's own Turbine Entertainment is working on the genre that almost seems to be an old standby at this point--another massively multiplayer online game. Middle-Earth Online sets itself during the fellowship's conflict with Sauron, and will entail Men, Dwarves, Elves and Hobbits working together in small and large groups, where they will explore the world, build homes and craft Mithril Swords, or just get drunk and sing. A large number of resources will enable you to create more powerful weapons and armors, and even food or decorative items. High-end crafters can create the most interesting items in the game.

You'll undergo the usual activity of creating and developing a character and choosing its specialties, but, as in Asheron's Call 2, nothing is ironclad. You'll be able to reevaluate your decisions as the game progresses. For short-term adventures you may have up to nine characters in your party or "fellowship," and their will be Kinships (think "guilds"), and online marriages and adooption. Turbines track record indicates that you can probably expect a solid product, but at this writting, it looks like there's nothing perticularly new. But since this, too, is a 2004 product, don't count on finding out anytime soon.
