Hopefully the trilogies will be sold separately, so I don't have to purchase the abominations.

I wonder if he'll actually include the original cuts of the first 3 films before he started fucking with them. Not likely, but a man can dream.

It'll be interesting. When the special editions of original trilogy were first released on DVD, Lucas stated that the originals would never be released on DVD and that the SE versions were the "true" visions of the original trilogy. Later, he relented and released the original versions as bonus features on the DVD reissues, but they were basically rips from the LaserDiscs - non-anamorphic, little to no cleanup, etc.

If he does screw with them, he could edit out Jar-Jar and cut about half of Ep II by deleting most scenes with Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. It would improve both films. I may have to get them, the kids love Star Wars and the condition of my DVD's and their packaging has suffered greatly because of it.

Nope. Lucas claims it would cost too much to restore them. That means expect the unfettered trilogy sometime in 2015.

2011? WTF is taking these assholes so long?
Seriously, and why even announce it more than a year ahead of time? I could understand announcing it now if it was coming out in Q1 2011, but not fall.

I happened to watch Episode V on TV this weekend.
The more I rewatch the old ones, the more I hate... HATE the prequels. CGI is killing movies people. Simply killing them. When you use REAL materials and objects to create effects it looks BETTER. GD... I HATE the prequels.

Not only that, but I DONT want to see the stupid Jabba the Hutt scene in Episode IV. Horrible. It was "Ok" with the human they had in it for the original cut, but trying to dub the CGI Jabba over him was just horribly done.

I only saw the first film of the prequels and did not much like it, so never bothered to see the next two films.

I also have not seen any of the Star Wars films since Empire was re-released in theatres however many years back. I have been waiting for a final, ultimate release to come of the original trilogy and I hope this will be it, but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Unless the price is outrageous I will buy them. Not a huge fan of Ep I and II but the start to Ep III was the first movie I had ever watched on a big screen TV and then became the first movie I watched with a real sound system. It started as coincidence but now every major audio/video change must result in watching the first part of Ep III before anything else :D I look forward to seeing it on my Bluray player in BD quality especially the uncompressed audio (Which is a big part of what makes the start of III so good)

He did such a great job with the first 3 episodes I don't think it's worth restoring 4-6 and he should just let those die. Awesome news though... too bad he choose not to make the next 3 that takes place after Jedi or I'd def get the blurays... Hell I'd marry his plump daughter if it'll get him to do the next 3, especially if he brings back Jar Jar as an apparition or something. :awe:

I watched all three as they replayed them both days this weekend. At several points during jedi I wondered how much better had more cgi been in use would those scenes had looked.
