Star Wars BattleFront2

Currently, I'm a BF2 addict. I've heard that this might be like BF2 but Jedi/Star Trooper style. I never played the first one and thought I'd check with other folks.

I own the first, and I've played a demo of the second.

Pros:
Better look overall (graphics, HUD, etc)
Better sound
Slightly better control
Space fighting is fun and a LOT easier

Cons:
Feels just like battlefront 1 despite additions

It's probably not worth putting down $50 right away.

I like Star Wars, but the first one was so bad I doubt I will even give the second one a chance unless it gets phenomenal reviews...

im in the same boat as the original poster.

But then i was like hey, i have BF2, and i will just wait for reviews on Battlefront 2.

But at the same time I have xbox 360 to play in a few weeks.

So much stuff.

True, It could have been really good, but the maps were too small and the flight controls were so dumbed down on the fighters it felt like a console port. It's a great concept that should be handed off to the guys who did Desert combat and BF2. They know what they're doing and they'd do it right.

Battlefield gameplay in the StarWars universe that isn't owned by EA == win!
Now, if it can overcome the original's shortcomings, then they'll have a hit.

Waiting for reviews is always a good choice. You might find a deal on the price if you wait a bit, too.

prepare to be all disappointed ... the game sucks. Anyways i uninstalled it the game because it was that disappointing

.

Which is why BF2 is so good, it was made by the modders who did Desert Combat. They had never developed a released title before DC. EA does not own them, they simply signed them up on the basis of DC. Lucas Arts should do the same with the same group for Battlefield is all I'm saying. Just because they've done business with EA doesn't mean they can't fix Battlefront. The reason I think so many people are so skeptical about Battlefront is that it's the same people this time as last time. Sure there are some special class heros that can be used, sure there are now capital ships, but it's going to take more than that to fix the design issues such as maps that are far too small for their own good. As you say, lets wait for the reviews, but it's not looking great based on the recent previews.

So far I've seen lots of 9/10 and 4.5/5 reviews from UK gaming magazines and sites.

QFT :: Worst game I ever bought. Clan had a lot of expectations as a jedi knight accademy clan that also played battlefield 1942/vientam. Battlefront was not only a letdown but proved to us that Lucas Arts doesn't care much about their games.

Its the SAME engine as the first. Has the SAME maps as the first. Has jedi added, some extra maps to fill in the last movie stuff and some extra vehicles. The graphics are the same... about 2 years out of date, and the premise is been done over and over. BFront2 comes off as a bug fix patch in a retail box. I wouln't buy it if it did turn out to be the best Massive Combat game to best even BF2. Sell_me_a_turd_once syndrome.

I really enjoyed the first and I plan on buying the second one on my way home from work today. It's a really fun console game, it in no way compares to PC first person shooters. I just think its fun to run around in a walker and rack up 90 kills 🙂

I agree I enjoyed the first one. Able to hop in a tie-fighter. Able to use an AT-AT. It wasn't a perfect game, had some AI problems and multiplayer issues. But I enjoyed it with friends over LAN.

And there I think you hit the nail on the head. It felt like a console port. This sort of game may play quite well on a console, but it should be left on the console... that or make the PC version at least on par with all the other FPS massive combat games.
