Star Wars Battlefront co op video looks incredible

After watching that video the game looks like an auto buy. Since it was done on the PS4 are they going to give that edition better options? I am sure graphically it will be superior but I did not know if content will be the same.

It's a beautiful game. However, it's a total pass for me. I'm not a Battlefield person, and this just looks like that franchise with some Star Wars flavor (although very, VERY sexy flavor). I think the franchise works best when it's in an RPG/third-person action setting, where you control a Force-wielding individual. For example, I loved being able to make my own lightsaber and paly online with Jedi Academy.

I'd stop short of saying the game is bad, that's certainly not the case. I honestly just look at it and believe I'd get bored at how it manages to throw you in the middle of Star Wars, but still just feel like a ho-hum FPS, at times. Maybe I'll pick it up, maybe I'll rent it. I'd DEFINITELY snag it from EA Access, should it ever slip in there.

But it's just a gorgeous game. I've never been a big Star Wars fan, no real explanation why. But I've watched most of the movies, I know what I'm looking at, and as a general sci-fi person, the visuals of the game excite me over everything. I mean, I can't overstate how cool it looks. I just don't know if the gameplay would rev my engine.

Looks pretty cool, I wish they would get rid of melee in shooters though, the idea that hitting someone with the butt of you gun does as much or more damage than shooting them is still stupid to me.

I'm a big Star Wars fan and won't be getting this. I'm not of the mind that Star Wars is best done as an FPS.

That's the thing that I was thinking while I watched. Star Wars is about big heroes, and you're faceless soldier #341 doing something mundane from any number of FPS franchises. They said that there are missions that aren't PvP-based where you can play as those major characters, though. They can be done solo or co-op.

Not a fan of Dice's Battlefield games and this looks like Battlefield with a Star Wars skin mod. Unless the reviews are glowing, I'll pass. Looks like this is shaping up to be another mediocre entry in EA's long history of mediocre licensed games based on blockbuster IP's.

Awfulness confirmed:

Plus no single player campaign. Seriously???

I mean, we found out that there'd be no campaign forever ago, though I can't recall if it was a leak or official announcements that stated it.

I came into this with no expectations because DICE is a crappy developer who lives on graphics and flash, rather than a solid core game. Battlefield 4 screamed that at the world, and it's the sole reason I expected this to be a mess and still do.

It's easy to blame DICE but I can see how this probably went down. EA told them they needed a flagship quality Star Wars shooter, but told them it had to be out for Episode VII's release. So they just imported the engine and code from Battlefield 4 and and re-skinned it with Star Wars characters and environments.

What DICE did was actually smart from a business standpoint, considering the quick turnover. You'll get a Battlefront game that at least works. The core mechanics are all there and there shouldn't be any major bugs. However, this also explains why so much content didn't get carried over from previous games. It's too bad they put so much emphasis on graphics, but they're just doing what the powers-that-be want.

That's possible, but it's hard to accept that line of "there shouldn't be any major bugs." We all saw Battlefield 4. We know what happens when EA rushes DICE. This could be another nightmare, and it it's anything like BF4, EA has literally given this the potential of ruining the last bit of credibility DICE has a developer, I think.

It makes short-term business sense, but it also risks being a gigantic flop that does major long-term damage. On the plus side, if this is going to be DICE's franchise regardless, they'll have another 18 months until the next movie to get Battlefront 2 (or 4?) together.

If it's just re-skinned BF4 then that means the most epic fail of hit detection ever unleashed upon the planet earth.
