i hope it isn't as bad as the last space movie he did.

'lets have a bunch of aging space cowboys and oil rig workers blow up an asteroid with a nuke! oh, and we can get aerosmith to write a really annoying song for it too!'

Nemesis sucked. Dune buggies? Noisy dune buggies, in the late 24th century? Shouldn't they have hover-buggies instead? Come on...
So much of that movie was a lame attempt to draw in more viewers. It started quietly in First Contact.
"Chronometric particles are emanating from the sphere."
"They're creating a temporal vortex."
"Time travel!"

Trek fans already know "chronometric" and "temporal vortex." The "Time travel" line was entered in for those who'd never seen ST before.

Insurrection ramped it up a bit. "Manual steering column" - 24th century, and a tiny joystick that pops out of the floor is the "optimum" choice to fly a starship? Where are the dual holographic manual controls, with 3 axes of motion?

Nemesis - loud dune buggies. Just, loud dune buggies. Did one of them have a big "3" anywhere on it, and maybe the NASCAR logo too for good measure?

:roll:

This is what we call a woman - wo...man. Say it slowly, so you'll understand.

ummm.... unless the space-time continuum has collapsed or something, I don't remember J.J. Abrams and Michael Bay having shared the same mind and body. :p

Armageddon - Michael Bay
J.J. Abrams - .... wait a minute, you meant writing. well, you got me there. Abrams wrote the screenplay for Armageddon. :( damn I was so sure I had something of substance for this post. lol

the team of writers for this new Star Trek movie was the same writers behind: a few Alias episodes, Mission Impossible 3, The Island, and Transformers (and will write the sequel apparently).
aside from Alias (don't watch the show), and Mission Impossible 3 (was decent, good action, decent story).. I have pretty much enjoyed what they have wrote before and shall enjoy Star Trek. :D

and apparently those two guys, alongside J.J., are writing and producing a new TV series, Fringe. (from imdb: A television drama centered around a female FBI agent who is forced to work with an institutionalized scientists in order to rationalize a brewing storm of unexplained phenomena. [..... smoke monster?])

that's the only one i bought. :thumbsup:

i like the others too though, just because it's ST.

so far the only ST stuff I haven't been interested in are Deep Space Nine and Enterprise, and that might only be because i didn't watch them enough.

I don't get why people hate on Star Trek V so much. It is not a great movie as a whole, but the 1st part of the movie is brilliant. It shows what Star Trek was about. The execution was pretty bad at the end, but that's because Paramount cut the Shat's budget drastically. He wanted the final scene to be a all out fight between kirk and a bunch of monster things.

The character interactions and dialog are at the best in Trek V.
Kirk: What does God need with a starship?
McCoy: Jim, what are you doing?
Kirk: I'm asking a question.
"God": Who is this creature?
Kirk: Who am I? Don't you know? Aren't you God?
Sybok: He has his doubts.
"God": You doubt me?
Kirk: I seek proof.
McCoy: Jim! You don't ask the Almighty for his ID!
"God": Then here is the proof you seek.
[Hits Kirk with lightning]
Kirk: Why is God angry?
Sybok: Why? Why have you done this to my friend?
"God": He doubts me.
Sybok: You have not answered his question. What does God need with a starship?
"God": [Hits Spock with lightning. Then addresses McCoy] Do you doubt me?
McCoy: I doubt any God who inflicts pain for his own pleasure.

So has Jenna Jameson.

They should have had Michael Bay do the Star Trek movie, minus the annoying Transformers actor (but keep the girl, damn).
