I like BSG most. In terms of the universe, I think I actually like Farscape or Babylon 5 the most. And B5 is my second favorite Sci fi series. Star Trek has its own charm, though. The original series and TNG to some degree are hard to hate. But the Trek universe is not as appealing.

You forgot Babylon 5.

I would have to say that my order of preference for my favorite sci-fi stuff would be:

Firefly
Babylon 5
BSG
ST:TNG
ST: DS9
ST:TOS
ST:Enterprise
Space: Above and Beyond (didn't last long...if you even remember it)
ST:VOY

The Galactica is still shooting bullets!

If you are talking out of these series...which would win in a battle? I'd have to say the Voyager from the final episode with it's battle armor and new borg-cube destroying weapons.

S:A&B!!
I just downloaded the whole series this summer. I remember it from when I was a youngin' -> they're releasing a DVD box soon; so the rumour goes.

SG1 > Atlantis > DS9 > late enterprise episodes > late voyager episodes > TNG > BSG > early voyager episodes > early enterprise episodes

Hard to say about TOS. Catch different reruns once in awhile they are all over the map in quality.

B5 bored me to tears. I watched the whole first season, hoping that I'd find something appealing, but didn't happen.

ST Voyager, next generation, or deep space nine. Enterprise and the original blow. Also, SG1 is a LOT better than Atlantis in terms of acting, plot, and believability.

The first season was not great relatively speaking. The show's main storyline was written entirely in advance, so as the show continued on, this story became stronger and stronger. There unfortunately were still lots of bad plots relating to single-episode happenings along the way, though.

poll??

BSG for the cinematography and writing but ST for it's impact on society and general ideas they present

I agree, I was going to say something similar.

I'd watch Star Trek : Enterprise before I'd watch BSG, and that's saying something.

I'd frequent P&N before watching BSG again, and THAT'S saying something.

So...do you even like sci-fi?

I refuse to watch BSG. But knowing that, I guess you could say I haven't given myself a chance to like it.

why?

Looks terrible, IMO.

I thought the same when I watched the Season 1 Premier...but they cleaned some stuff up and made it a pretty good show.

Yes. It's my favorite genre to watch on TV. I just don't like BSG.

That's too bad.... do you recommend a specific season to start with where it starts to get good?

You really need to watch it all. It does start out slow...but there are a lot of things along the way that all tie together. That's what's cool about the storyline being written in advance. They are able to do some cool things.

There are some very emotional and powerful scenes in that series though. The relationship between G'Kar and Londo Molari, etc.

Now that topic has been more specified after my original post (2nd response), I very much like watching TNG when i can, but i rather enjoy BSG becuase it seems the story arcs develop, and you see the characters develop very well. With regards to TNG, it took a while for some characters to really be fleshed out, but overall the show was very episodic in nature, while not a bad thing, it sometimes didn't help with audiance getting to really know the characters. Voyager was a good show. I watched that actively when it was on the air.

And, I think Babylon 5 is a better show than DS9, sorry OP.

I thought this was about an interstellar free-for-all with Adama and Galactica vs. Kirk and old Enterprise vs. Picard and new Enterprise?

I'll take Kirk any day of the week.

you're insane...

the old enterprise had a horrible script, horrible acting/directing, and laughable storyline.

BSG is a superior show in every sense

I disagree. However, I was talking about an actual space battle.

Edit: Thanks HN! 😀

ohhh roflmao hahaha. sorry for insulting you 😛.

well, if you're talking about that, then ya, probably kirk leading an armada of star trek ships can own all, but let's reserve that discussion for another thread in another time 😛.

BSG in 2-3 hours!!! WOOOOT!!!!!!
