If you wanted to buy two seasons, Costco had an $18 off coupon for either the Next Generation or Deep Space Nine series, which are marked at $45 per season. So the net price (after tax) might be a little cheaper for some.

Damn good price actually, compared to what they debuted at. They started at 130 USD per set.

I'm a real fan of ST:NG, this is excellent! I would like a bulk all 8 seasons for some good price deal if they got that.

Nice guy, 'middlehead'. Your sig is appropriately German given the sad amount of Schadenfreude you exhibit.

Caveman, you're right, I'd forgotten that - and they had X-Files for $20 a season.

The $100 Star Trek DVD pricing was a whole lot better than those old $25(?) VHS tapes with 2 episodes...

There were only seven seasons of TNG, but it you can wait a few more months, DeepDiscountDVD.com will have the complete set for $252 during the November 20% off sale. That's only $36 per season shipped.

Really, you could say that about almost anything. VHS tapes vs DVD vs HD-DVD ect., almost any electronics, and don't even think about computers! Hell, for the money I paid for my 42" plasma 4.5 years ago, I could get a 55" today. What about the ever evolving iPods? They came out just 5 years ago, but look what you can get for the same price now.

Sure, the Trek sets are cheaper now, but how do you put a price on potentially years of enjoyment in a way that was unheard of just 10 years ago? I say if you can afford it, buy it and enjoy it. If you can't, well then wait hoping it will come down in price. Of course, we'll all be complaining when the HD sets eventually come out! :)

Not quite the same. Star Trek season sets debuted at about $110+ for about 22-26 episodes lasting appx. 44 minutes each. Star Gate SG1 was a Sci Fi show with a comparable budget, yet it's season sets sold for about half in the $45-55 price range. They're less now of course, but it's quite a contrast to TNG sets.

I'd like to get all of TOS to share with my kids, un-cut and no with commercials.

If you can find em' for a good price, go for it. Myself, I'm willing to wait a couple years for the HD DVD release with revamped/modernized special effects as reported by thedigitalbits.com. Kudos to CBS for not actually changing any of the content, just replacing the effects frame for frame.

Sadly, I started collecting TOS a few years ago, when they were sold at about $18-$22 for a single DVD with two episodes. I've probably got about twenty singles like that... and then they started coming out with entire seasons. :(

I'll probably eventually just get everything on season box sets. The singles are worth little any more, though maybe I could sell them all together as a batch on Ebay and make a bit by not having to ship them individually.
