CBS and Paramount have lived up to their promise of more details on the Star Trek:The Original Series Season 1 HD DVD/DVD combo boxed set at Comic-Con, announcing the 10 disc set will debut November 20th. As seen in the HD broadcasts, the visuals have been updated, along with remastered audio with a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. HD DVD exclusive special features include picture-in-picture video commentaries, an interactive tour of Enterprise, a documentary on the remastering process, rare home videos and additional information on seven of the episodes. All that Star Trek goodness that comes packaged in a "futuristic, clear case" with an SRP of $217.99, and still no word of a Blu-ray release.

I haven't seen all but of a few of the original episodes. I've seen a couple of the movies though and really enjoyed them. Can't wait to see this remastered in HD. I'll probably be renting them though as $200 is too expensive!

Shawn you must remember these are the same people who purchase the cheapest PSU they can find when building there monster systems!!

I'll probably end up buying it. First, because its TOS with better effects. Second, because decent sales means a better shot at getting B5 updated for HD.

I hope for that price they won't use the versions that were used for
the re-broadcast as LOTS of time was shaved off for more ad time..
They completely cut the "Vulcans never bluff" sequence from the
"Doomsday machine", ouch. TOS and ST in general has been a friggin
cash cow for Paramount for all these years, let's hope each episode
is shown in it's entirety....

FYI they're broadcasting all the new remastered episodes on G4, Nick at Night, and lots of local stations (usually late at night), although in SD.

Actually, I don't think Nick at Nite is showing the remastered versions. However, one of my local HD stations is showing the remastered versions. Big difference is the nonsensical flashing lights at the workstations have been put into some kind of order that at least has some resemblence to making sense.

the star trek season sets have always been price prohibitive to me. I would like to support them, but I just cannot fork over the 200-700$ it has been and will be.

Well the DVD sets have always been expensive, but people buy them, and the price eventually drops. The question is, with as many Trek fans that are out there, and lots of them have money, will this launch HD DVD to the forefront of the new format war?

I was never big into TOS, I was more of an NG guy. However, people shouldn't be too surprised about the cost, it's a lot of shows and discs.

Jabba the Hutt was not in Episode IV, CGI for the lose. These HD enhancements are all CGI, why not just reshoot the episodes with full CGI?

Wait a minute, they didn't just dress up the original film, they completely re-did stuff?! That's blasphemy, the greatest entertainment from TOS comes from the visible strings and whatnot

$200? Are there 100 episodes per season???? Crazy.

I did love this sequence though.
Enterprise has to fling itself around a star to gain speed, or something like that. The original effects sequence just shows the ship rocking back and forth in the middle of nowhere. No star, no fancy maneuverings.

I'd still like to see the final battles of DS9 redone. They talked about hundreds or thousands of ships, and dammit I want to see them in action. Cheap action though - no $200/set BS.
