That looks horrible.

If that trailer is any indication, it won't make it past the first season.

Here's hoping it's just a bad trailer.

It's like this post is a macro people have programmed on their keyboards anytime a new show gets introduced.

Agents of Shield - WON'T MAKE IT PAST 1ST SEASON
Supergirl- AWFUL, WILL NEVER MAKE IT
Gotham - TERRIBLE, WILL MAKE IT 5 EPISODES AT MOST
etc etc etc

Oddly I was the opposite. Hated the original Family Guy, but liked the return.
People that say the tired old "it was never funny after they returned" trope have never actually watched it...they're just repeating what they see other people saying.

Love these scenes (especially Stewie watching THE video):

Nope, try again. I never said that about any of these three shows. In fact, I looked forward to all three and still watch the first two.

The Seth MacFarlane one looks terrible though.

While I didn't say it.. to be fair to those that did, none of those should have made it past the 1st season

The Orville will air Thursdays later this year on Fox. 😱
Also stars Seth MacFarlane.

I'm thinking Galaxy Quest.. anyone else?

Galaxy Quest was actually pretty funny. This just looks terrible... at least from the trailers I've seen anyway.

Still, I'll probably watch one or two episodes. My expectations are low though. MacFarlane just looks wooden in the trailers.

I guess I'm one of the few that's been long tired of his "comedy" which is why I didn't think Ted was funny.

Ted wasn't bad and Family guy started as a funny show. I think the main problem is he tends to just keep doing the same thing over and over. Ted 2 was entirely unnecessary, family guy should have been moved on from a decade ago and all the family guy off-shoots should have been avoided.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I watched it (or tried to) and didn't find it funny. Were you spying in my window? Granted I didn't actually start watching the return until years after it started, so who knows maybe my sense of humor changed, but I do know for a fact I didn't like it at first.

Sorry you're so difficult to entertain. Must be a burden.

I'm pretty McFarlaned out and have been for years, but I think the trailer looked decent enough to give it a shot. *shrugs*

It'll be free to watch so what else is there to lose?

Well... this premieres tonight.

The Orville
New, 9/10/2017, Comedy, Sci-fi, Adventure
In the year 2417, the newly-promoted captain of the exploratory spaceship U.S.S. Orville is taken aback when he learns that his ex-wife has been assigned as his First Officer; during their inaugural routine mission, the crew is ambushed by aliens.

I don't have high hopes for this one...that trailer was just terrible.

I think the problem here is that it's only a semi-comedy and that's going to confuse people. They're trying to make a somewhat serious space adventure sprinkled with MacFarlane's humor style and neither the story nor the humor will be strong enough to carry things on their own. That mix never plays well on TV. And as weak as the trailer was, it still looks better than the new real Star Trek. As least everything wasn't orange lens flare.

Admiral Halsey...I get it.

Don't mind foghorn. He's full of Bull.

I have not seen one good review for this show. Most of them just tears the show apart. While I normally don't pay attention to reviews, it's hard not to notice every review coming out against it. Most seem to acknowledge that it's more fan service than straight out comedy, but all of them still hate it. Even the pro-geek sites seem to be saying the show is a more a Star Trek fan film that misses the point of the source material.

guess i'm the only one here who liked that trailer and doesn't want to shit all over seth (even though i never watched family guy). plus it has bobbi morse as 1st officer so diggidy!

Watching Seth MacFarlane's "acting" in A Million Ways to Die in the West was excruciating. Shame that. He seems like such a nice boy. Has someone ever suggested to him that maybe he ought to give the writing and producing end of things a go?
