I didn't see Star Wars until Episode 1 came out (when I was a teen), so it doesn't really have any magic for me. It's a set of okay movies. I enjoy Star Trek a whole lot more.

Neither one is "better" than the other. They're completely different genre.

Star Trek is science fiction.

Star Wars is science fantasy.

The original Star Trek was poorly written, poorly cast and acted, and the sets were laughable...but it was fucking great...at the time.

The first Star Wars movies had some of the same failings...but were also great.

The newer movies contain so much "digital manipulation," they can make a dog turd LOOK like a solid gold android that walks and talks. Is that "better?" Not necessary, but it often makes the movie look better.

i gotta say, i was thoroughly disappointed by Beyond. i'd call it average at best.
i was also disappointed by the lack of originality in SWTFA

they both have a collection of good movies and bad movies.
Star Trek has a few bad series but I have yet to see any Star Wars series, so, I guess right now its a tie.

If Rogue One is less than awesome I will vote Star Trek.

If George Lucas had not made it his life mission to ruin the magic and memory of Star Wars I'd say Star Wars. The original trilogy was better than anything Star Trek ever did. But since George pissed all over it, then Star Trek by a large margin.

The two are completely different. Star Wars is a dystopia, a stark warning of evil more often coming from within than from out and how easy it is to lose liberty and democracy over promises of order and security. Star Trek is more a utopia, an example of what humanity could achieve, if it could let go of its bigotry, greed and hate. Star Trek is a message of hope where as Star Wars is a message of caution.

Both are equally welcome messages in these trying times.

Tough question to answer if people are actually being honest.

There is some terrible, terrible Star Trek out there. See Beyond as a prime example of a movie that should not have been made.

But... kid Anakin. Vomit.

For me, what it comes down to is that Star Wars has so many damn feelings. It's all about feelings. feel this. hate that. rage up. control emotions. It's hippy stuff. That doesn't mean it's all bad - they make it work. But I far prefer the primarily science-based approach of Star Trek.

Both have merits, but for me Trek wins.
