Star Trek Fans -- If you could create a new series, what would it be?

So all of us Trek fans are in a doldrum right now, with the only forseeable project a flick staring Ben Afleck! I was thinking, if a new series was to be made do you think it would take place even further in the future or again in the past. I know at the end of Voyager (last episode was on tonight on Spike and it got me thinking) they introduced some pretty radical technology and temporal mumbo-jumbo, which could make a new project tricky. I would kind of like to see the franchise go in a new direction, maybe a catastrophic setting or something. Or perhaps some experimental vulcan ship with a small human group on board. I don't know, there are lots of ideas they could explore. What do you guys think?
 
1. Asian navigator? check
2. Women with bodacious ta-tas in tight spandex or mini-skirts? check
3. inter-species relationship after 1st season? check
4. mandatory spread of female officers in FHM/Maxim? check

after that, does the plot really matter that much?
 
whatever the hell they do ..just DON'T GO BACK IN TIME .... PLEASE!!!!!!

i don't want to see suits with zippers or the engineer with a wrench in his hand or towing ships with a freakin' rope of sorts!
 
Slightly into the future, with most of the NG cast involved, although not directly and not every week. Like an Admiral Riker would be cool, Admiral Janeway, stuff like that. Have Picard be an ambassador or something, bring back Worf (again) but make him a really high ranking member of the Klingon High Council, with Alexander a ship commander. Instead of random aliens every week, refocus on some of the main badguys (Furies, Borg, Romulan, Q, etc.), with season long plots.

I'd totally watch it, even though I skipped the last few seasons of DS9 and all of Enterprise.
 
Something cool, something dark, and a little trippy. TNG and DS9 were good, downhill since.

BSG will own star trek if its not great.
 
1. no prequel crap
2. no starfleet academy 90210 crap
3. long story arcs are good

but I think trek needs to sit in the corner for a while and think about the bad things it has done.

oh wait how about a show with jake + neelix + wesley and the token black guy from enterprise?

QFT. Put the story in the in the fairly near future after the end of the last series, and have something interesting and major be the backdrop over a couple of seasons.

NO TIME TRAVEL.

Oh, and for once please have some aliens that are actually alien.
 
Either...

Star Trek: Borg War in TNG/Voyager timeframe
or
Star Trek: Excelsior with Captian Sulu during the Star Trek VI times.

 
Star Trek: Origins.

Each season could deal with the origins or emergence of a different species in Star Trek.

Like the Borg!
 
I would bring back Kirk and Spock. Sure they are old but so what? It could be a sitcom about them in a Nursing Home.

What about Star Trek: Klingons...a show that focuses on a Klingon ship/crew? Like, Worf's brother?
