I stumbled on it, started watching it thinking it was a total spoof, but found myself about 20 minutes into it going, "Holy crap... the production values of this are actually somewhat better than TOS" (Blasphemy!)

Just waiting for CBS to come in and shut them down now...

edit: By the way, if you plan on watching it, hope you have an hour to burn.

This is surprisingly good. Much better than the one done by the guy who played Tuvok on Voyager.

It begs the question, if they can do something THIS good, why not do original Trek content. Pickup say 50 years after the events of Nemesis.

So, for what it is, it's pretty damn good. It really captured the old TOS, and doesn't feel low budget at all. I would continue to watch this.

I don't recall the episode that it is a "sequel" of so I didn't get all the references to Scotty, but I thought the addition of some of the TNG things as "firsts" was kind of an interesting touch.

That is really excellent for what it is. I'm not crazy about the actors for the main parts, but the quality of the production is really good.

I thought Scotty was right on..for a small instant, I thought they had the original actor lol. Not really a fan of the Kirk they have..but whatever.

ok the redhead is hot..

Rack to die for...

I think the chick cast as Uhura ... is ... well, that's horrible casting on all counts there. She's got neither looks, voice nor acting skill to cover the bit parts Uhura got. At least eye candy would have been nice.

Wish they had written a new crew rather than playing at being Kirk etc.

The premise of it is that they're finishing the 5-year mission that only went for 3 seasons in TOS. Kind of hard to write a new crew for that.

Damn. Bones, the redhead, Apollo: everyone towers over Kirk.

Edit: The ending was so groan-worthy. "Self sacrifice" benefits the giver and the receiver?! No it doesn't. That's kinda the definition of the "sacrifice" part. It isn't a sacrifice if it's done for your personal benefit or if it intentionally benefits you in any way!

Spoiler tags when talking about 'the ending'.

I didn't like parts of the Kirk acting, but I do have to say parts were pretty remarkable copies of Shatner. He copied some bits right on.

Is everyone on the crew using estrogen or something? Nobody has any bass in their voice whatsoever.

Also, Kirk looks too much like Charlton Heston. I keep waiting for him to say "Fire phasers at THOSE DAMN DIRTY APES!"

If memory serves, they got approval on this before ever putting it out.
